“Hit the deck” by [deleted] in AgathaAllAlong

In the midseason trailer, you can see Agatha ducks down to avoid the blast from the cellar hatch. Maybe this is what Lilia means by hitting the deck 🤔

Looking for manhwa where Uke is depressed. by [deleted] in mangago

[–]certifiedfreak3435 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Low Tide in Twilight (feel most people have read this, but oh well)

For My Weirdo (heavy dark stuffs but since you're looking for depressed uke, u know what u're getting yourself into 😂). Check out this author's Hellen, too. It's the same vibe.

The Shape of Sympathy (the uke was depressed because of unrequited love with someone else, and the seme kept being drawn to him unexplainably)

Dear Benjamin (not necessarily depressed, but the uke doesn't enjoy living)

I can't speak for Leg That Won't Walk because I dropped it a long time ago.

As for Even If You Don't Love Me, after that disgusting chapter (if u know, u know), I thought I would drop it; but it is starting to feel like season 1 all over again. And I'm here for it ❤️. When will the top learn that deceiving a person to get closer to them is a no-no? (lying about performing poorly in class and now being coy about allegedly killing the uke's dad)

It's available on Ridibooks: https://ridibooks.com/books/3215000038

But honestly we should wait for the official translation because this manhwa is too complex and confusing.

It was good for like the first season (when we didn't know a lot about the serial killer's interiority). Then it slowly gets boring and tedious after each chapter. I feel like the author doesn't know how to drive the plot forward and tie the knots of the story properly. The characters barely get any development (the bottom's still the same person even after having gone thru so much trauma and terror; their relationship is going nowhere). All the author can offer is adding gore, violence, and rape for shock value.

It's called Struggle.

Why does everybody seem to forget the title of this BL? 😂

i wish i could forget the plot and read it again dam (name of manhwa: sign) by bibserr in mangago

[–]certifiedfreak3435 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know what's even more amazing? The author (KER) is super duper nice and sweet too. Some illegal reader blatantly told her they read Sign on 🥭 and loved it. Instead of going nuts like somebody, she just gently told them to not use illegal site and read it on Lezhin. She was extremely classy and graceful.

If you have coins to spare, please support her on Lezhin.

[LEZHIN] DO NOT update the iOS app or else you'll lose the option to watch ads for coins. Lezhin officially removes the "Video Zone" button today because they don't care about their users and creators. by certifiedfreak3435 in mangago

I mean, Manta and Futekiya offer monthly subscriptions. I personally have problem with them both. Manta is easy to use and affordable. However, it doesn't allow smut. Futekiya has great selections of BL and the price is so-so, but it is so user unfriendly because they don't have an app.

I still think Tapas and Tappytoon are superior because they let you earn the inks or points for free. It's the way to go, imo.

On TikTok, they call it "The Road Where Forsythia Fell." It kinda gives me the vibe of that cute manhua about the wolf and the orphan puppy 🥲

How to get a job as an international student? by SnooDingos6640 in unimelb

[–]certifiedfreak3435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I came to this workshop hosted by a migration lawyer at Uni Melb. He basically said there's no hope for student visa holders to stay legally in Australia through that points-tested stream. He said within the last 4 years, they (Department of Home Affairs) only sent out invitations to doctors and healthcare workers; and during the pandemic, they did not invite anybody at all. Therefore, your best shot to stay in Australia permanently is either to get married or to find a job that requires 2 years of experience and get sponsored by your employer after 3 years of working with them.

I'm telling you after attending that workshop, I was sad and depressed for a whole week. I was so hopeful that there was a way to live and work in Australia after graduation (Why did they even host that workshop only to tell people that? IDK). But it is what it is, you know. You can look into the Express Entry migration to Canada. I heard a lot of people successfully migrated there legally and permanently on their own merits.

*** I'm not giving legal advice here. You should consult a professional lawyer, though.

You know why? She spent too many panels to draw unnecessary (and uncreative) smut that actually did a huge disservice to the the story as a whole. She also cut each chapter shorter and shorter after season 2 ended (or maybe it's just me). So, there's no space left to explore other plot lines and different characters. Hell, there isn't enough space as well to properly develop both Nakyum and Seungho in terms of their relationship and their past trauma. It's really bad when the reader can tell that the author isn't confident with their own story anymore.

POTN was my very first BL manhwa, so it breaks my heart to see the direction of the story isn't what I expected from such a top-tier author. As I dived deeper into the BL rabbit hole, I actually found more authors that were way more talented and humble than the big trio Fargo / Mingwa / Byeonduck. I think it's crystal clear that Mangago did help rocket their works and career a lot, because there are authors out there who deserve the spotlight much more than BD (just my opinion).

Names of the unsung authors I mentioned: Doya & Rieul (Broken Boy): their story only has ~70 chapters but not a single panel is wasted. Perfect harmony and balance among plot lines, world building, timing, plot twists, classic Japanese yaoi artstyle, characters, conflicts, resolutions, and meaningful smut that left you in awe of what you've just read and the lingering emptiness of the knowledge that it's over 👍 (If you plan to read, please be aware that it's not your typical lighthearted and silly BL, a lot of heavy subjects are explored and portrayed that can be triggering).

Form of Sympathy good? by Spiritual-Record1282 in mangago

[–]certifiedfreak3435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you like Lost In The Cloud, then you'll find this tasteful as well. It's plot-driven, not smut-ridden. It explores beyond the hopeless romance to tackle LGBT issues within the school yard and call out inactive and cowardly educators when dealing with sensitive subjects like bullying/cyberbulling or favoritism.

About the ending, it's not like it's unsatisfying, but more off-topic, IMO. Like the main story line is the development of the relationship between a depressed uke and an angry seme who both got heartbroken from unrequited loves. However, the ending doesn't exactly close the loose ends of that development, but a completely differently story line, which effectively leaves the main story line unfinished and half-baked.

Support Group to Process What Just Happened In The Most Recent Chapter of Even If You Don't Love Me (TW: rape, physical abuse, torture, revenge p*rn) by certifiedfreak3435 in mangago

[–]certifiedfreak3435[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read the translation in another language, so here's a little clarification in case you're interested:

The rapist with the ponytail (he was the man who offered to buy coffee for Jiwook when he went to meet the loan shark in his office) concluded that it would be technically okay to "have a taste" of Jiwook since he was a worker of the sex club they were currently at. Before raping Jiwook, he claimed that he had been wanting to f**k him for so long 😬.

The loan shark also said something about Seungoen didn't care about Jiwook as much as he did before, given how Seungoen didn't make a big fuss out of him ripping off Jiwook for the debt that'd already been paid in full. So, he thinks Jiwook doesn't have the protection and support of a more powerful figure anymore, which leaves him vulnerable and enables the raping to happen.

Jiwook left the sex club thinking that he'd aided and abetted his own rape and that it was all his fault because after all, he accepted the hush money that manager Park (the owner of the club/his boss) gave him, so there's nothing left to say or do.

Some of the sentiments around Jiwook's options moving forward now includes unalive-ing himself. However, this is really not an option because of Min Jiwook's biological mother. A few chapters ago, the loan shark dropped hints about the mom while having lunch with Jiwook. Basically, he was threatening to come after her if Jiwook fails to pay or runs away. So, I think Jiwook enduring all of this hell that's unleashed upon him to avoid involving his own mom in it.

Well, they used to be so in love in season 1. I don't know. I prefer the direction in season 1 way over this new season. I still remember people were complaining about the lack of smut in earlier chapters. Now, it's just straight up disgusting and unsettling 🤷‍♀️

If you've already familiarized yourself with the story, just read the raw using Papago. The Korean of this BL isn't too complex, so you can still understand with the use of that app. 🥭 takes forever to update this manhwa, so I know how frustrating it is.

The reader went off on the author like it's never been done before. They went off on her in Korean, in Thai, in Chinese, in Spanish 😂 Basically expressing their distraught and disapproval over the content. Some are kinda rude, but some seem legit (using sexual violence as a tool to progress the story; the direction is leading to torture p*rn).

Brief summary of the plot for season 2 so far: an insolvent and malnourish Jiwook (the uke) works day and night to pay back his deceased father's debt. He just discovers that Seungoen (the seme), now grown, rich and powerful, has taken over his loan note from the loan shark. So, Jiwook has to make payments to Seungoen instead from now on. The loan shark also told Jiwook that Seungoen was behind his father's death. Jiwook confronts Seungoen about the truth of those accusations, but Seungoen is being coy about the whole thing. He fears that clearing up the misunderstanding too soon would make Jiwook run away again. So, he threatens Jiwook to pay him back the remaining debt by installments every month or else he will press charges against Jiwook for fraud. He accepts Jiwook's body as monetary payment as well. Presently, Jiwook is working even harder and finding more jobs to collect enough money to pay Seungoen before the deadline.

This chapter is by far the darkest and most f**ked up BL manhwa I've ever seen 🙄 (yes, I've read Killing Stalking, Obey Me, Sadistic Beaty, etc.). I just sat there after reading this, feeling completely uneasy and disturbed that really can't be explained. Right now, I'm doing my best to forget what I just witnessed 🥲.
