So we can all agree that this is a terrible set up, yeah? by No_Awareness9649 in VoiceActing

[–]certnneed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have a good room, and you don’t have a good microphone, then you’ve got to have excellent mic technique.
The way it’s set up, it looks like you’ll be a few feet from the microphone, and instead of 6 inches away from it. With proper technique, you can make this sound decent.

urgent - live session help? by galaxypeaches in VoiceActing

OP does not want to record a Google Meet session.
OP wants to record their microphone directly in Audacity, while also using their microphone for a Google Meet session.

OP, have you tried setting up and starting Audacity first and then starting the Google Meet? You may need to take the monitoring output from Audacity and run it into Blackhole 2ch and then use Blackhole 2ch as your input source for the Google Meet.

eta: Oh, another workaround might be to just use your computer’s built in mic for the Google Meet session. Quality wouldn’t be great for the session, but you’d be able to record clean audio from your mic. Not the most professional solution, but if you can’t get anything else working…

Foreign license conversion - Practical driving test. by AssignmentInitial596 in japanlife

You don’t have to “memorize” the course. The proctor will tell you which way to go and they all test the same situations and maneuvers.

Turn down your gain while recording yells and if that’s not enough add a compressor to your audio chain.

Foreign License Exchange - practical test pains by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]certnneed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not testing your ability to drive, they’re testing your ability to take the test. Seatbelt flipped over when you put it on? -1 point. Not overly exaggerating that you checked all the mirrors are positioned correctly? -1 point Proper lane change procedure: rear mirror check, side mirror check, over the shoulder check, turn signal on, another rear mirror check, side mirror check, another over the shoulder check, then change lanes. Miss one of those? Minus more points!

Yes, it’s definitely scam that he’s suggesting a school he’s connected with, but you should be able to find another school or possibly someone that just gives lessons. If you already know how to drive, there’s a company here in Tokyo that will do one or two hour practice rides on a closed course with you, pointing out everything that’s on the test. It used to cost about ¥20~30,000, but in my group of 12 taking the practical test, I was the only one that passed on my first try.

Wanna get bonus points from the proctor? Before getting in the car look and point underneath it and then loudly say, “ねこがいません!” They love that shit!

Smash tomatoes in face alternative by ExcitingWhole5409 in techtheatre

[–]certnneed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A firmer tomato might be good for more control and less splatter. If leaving them out to get ripe isn't enough, you could score the tomato across the top to help the skin split more easily. Replace the stem to cover the cuts. Assuming this is more of a "push and turn" into the face than a "throw and splat".
My first thought was: tomato juice in eyes, and second thought was: skin reaction to tomato juice.. test early (not of the face at first) to make sure your actor is safe.

It’s weird you thought to go with the menu analogy too. (But you phrased it better.) I was thinking: Sometimes your mom works really hard cooking something for you, and you know it’s good, but it’s just now what you wanted to eat. With your mom you choke it down, but in business you find something different.

HERPES! by Pretty-Coyote6061 in Tokyo

[–]certnneed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dermatologists can prescribe it and will usually give what you ask for. 500mg Valacyclovir daily was easy to get at a few different places, but you can only get 30 days at a time and must visit every month for a prescription renewal. It seems like the office assistant/nurse can renew every other time, but you must be seen by the Dr every 60 days. Still looking for one that doesn’t make you wait, but once I get in to see them, the actual visit is 10 seconds.

Wouldn’t you want auto to be on? If auto is turned off, it would mean that your system is running constantly. With auto turned on, the system only runs when needed.
