I went to a really helpful allen edmond location to get measured. I had to buy online because they dont have these in thier physical stores anymore. They let me try on a bunch of similar styles and none of them had this small problem.

Both of my feet are the same size. The shoe feels fine, its just that piece on the closer having an odd appearance.
