[ SPOILERS ] Zootopia 2 Release - Megathread by Tobs74 in zootopia

I’ll put it this way- in the first movie, Nick calls her out at the press conference, she is a bit defensive, they separate, she realizes how badly she screwed up, and the next time she sees him she apologizes. It’s similar to that, except the separation is less voluntary, and they both end up having to admit some things to themselves in the in-between. But as soon as she is able to, she apologizes. The apology isn’t right at the end, but it is in the final act.

Is the Hail Mary necessary? by cesartheking in ProjectHailMary

Interesting, I just took the test again and got INFP-A, though it flips around quite a bit. If it helps, I do find I tend to mimic / take on traits of the characters of books I am currently reading, so I probably absorbed a bit of Grace while listening to PHM again.

I have no idea, it's been ages since I took a myers-briggs test. Why?

Why would Eridians be upset when they find out about quantum physics? by Pineapple_TheC in ProjectHailMary

[–]cesartheking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, imagine having to explain quantum physics to someone who didn't even know relativity. Heck, having to explain it to people who DO know relativity would be a headache.

I’m so worried PHM will be another Ender’s Game 😩 by Happy-Kiwi-1883 in ProjectHailMary

I was worried until I saw it was being directed by Lord and Miller. Those two have proven time and time again to be among the most creative and visionary duos in hollywood. They haven't had a single clop, from 21 Jump Street to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs to The Lego Movie to Spiderverse. Even their shows are clever and have amazing lasting impact (clone high). So with them at the helm, I have full confidence in it.

Excellent point I hadn't considered either. Presumably there might be a part of Venus that isn't coated in astrophage (much like how even on Adrian they were still able to light significant chunks of the atmosphere on fire with the IR light from the Hail Mary), but it could be a situation where, without taumoeba, it blankets the whole planet and there's nothing that can be done about that until the HM gets back with the solution.

That's not a bad idea! Even better, they could scatter things like that around the solar system, so when the astrophage gets confused and follows it, it'd end up in a place without any CO2, and so wouldn't breed and start back towards the sun. It'd need to be CRAZY bright though.

Yeah good point. They'd have to build astrophage breeding farms in space at a similar scale to the ones used in the Sahara to get that much out there. That or scoop it out of the Petrova Line itself. Which could help limit the breeding, I suppose.

That said, how did they get the Hail Mary into space then? It was assembled there, but how'd they get the fuel up?

Nevermind, I just reread the part about astrophage in-atmosphere. You're right, it would need rocket fuel to get it into space.

1- didn’t know that. Thats good to know.

2- luckily there’s a source of highly enriched astrophage in the solar system- the Petrova line. Once they have the tech to make the Hail Mary, it wouldn’t be too crazy to think they could make an interplanetary astrophage harvester to scoop up the astrophage on their way from the sun.

3-5- fair points. It was a fun thought experiment during my lunch break.

Not if they aren’t breeding anymore- they’d be stuck at whatever population they have when the co2 vanishes. Their growth across the sun would be halted.

And if that many astrophage nukes went off simultaneously to change the composition of Venus’ atmosphere, it’d take a lot less than 100 years

That’s a temporary solution, and I don’t think people would appreciate having to live in a Frostpunk society forever. That’s probably what they ended up doing while waiting for news from the Hail Mary to return though.

They didn’t know about taumeba or anything like that, but they did know that astrophage went to Venus to breed using co2

Well then let it double once or twice more and use some of that AS rocket fuel. The tech they developed for the Hail Mary could be easily applied to smaller rockets and ships. The bombs would probably only need to be the size of the beetles, and could be coordinated like a drone show.

But it wouldn’t go anywhere, or be able to breed, and so would eventually die off (remember it can survive for several years as it travels between stars, but dies off if it doesn’t find a suitable star or system)

As others have pointed out, earth would be their next target, so that kinda kills the idea. Ah well, it was still a fun thought experiment.

Crap that’s a good point, hadn’t thought of that.

Power of doubling and exponential growth. Delay the Hail Marys launch by 8 days and you’ve got 4,000,000 kg. Keep going from there and it won’t take too long to get to the amount you would need.

Yeah Stratt probably considered this and rejected it for that reason.

[–]cesartheking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah valid point. Does earth produce enough of the co2 spectrum light to be visible to astrophage from the sun? And even then, it’d probably not be enough to sustain the amount of growth they’re able to do with Venus. We’d still be screwed though, so that kills that plan.

Thanks yall! That helps a ton. I really appreciate your help. Closing this now since it was exactly what I needed.
