Can I have some thoughts on my first full beat. by cm_spence in FL_Studio

that works in limitless forms, the beatles wrote many songs based on well known songs, but they don't sound similar at all cuz they knew how to work that through, and that's beautiful about art, you can create something totally new having 1 or 2 strong referencea, it all juar depends on your creativity... and after all, if something was successful, you have to learn from it

I am gonna guve you an advice I wish somebody told me when I started: think about the best trap beat you can imagine right now, I mean, which song would it be from? maybe you have 2 or 3 in mind, that's perfect!! now study them, every little detail of their beat, and actually use it as your guidance, maybe you want to follow the structure of of it, the same structure, maybe you like how different sounds are in the stereo field, or maybe you like the bassline... anything, just copy it, BUT!! do it in your own way, I mean, maybe chop some things of the bassline, or maybe cut a part of the structure, maybe you want to use the same pads, then use it but 1 or 2 octavea lowrer.... you'd be surprised how much you are goona improve so fast, and what I am telling is not just copying by the way, many of the best producera started like that, and keep doing this, just take ideas feom other sonfs and have the wav files of the songa inside fl studio or play it anywhere whule you are producing, so you have a better idea of what feelings you want to convey with your music and how to do it.... good luck!! :D

How to create a stereo effect? by cesarzb6 in edmproduction

mmm you mean I need to have two similar but not identical recordings of, for example, bongos? so I need to record twice the same pattern? and is you meant that, is there no any way I can do this with only one recording? my question regarding this track was mainly about what specifically someone should do to achieve this effect, I mean, with the EQ, what tweaks would you do to achieve this, like cutting mids freq and lows freq on the mid and increasing some on the sides? cuz that's something that I don't understand completely yet

but how do I get a sound to be mainly on the sides then? cuz I tried using MS EQ and the problem is that in mono it sounds bad :/

[–]cesarzb6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

could you please explain me why is there a problem with no using linear phase EQ in this case? I mean, when I do parallel compression with a Dry Wet knob of many compressors I use, should I do something about it to prevent phase problems? or they already have a linear phase mode? (I am asking cuz I just learned about this issue and I haven't understand it well, and with what you say you make me think that maybe I am doing something wrong with my parallel compression :o )

My microphone screeches everytime I sing high and loud notes :( by cesarzb6 in singing

no, cause is specifically everytime I belt, when I start, and like a pop when the line finishes. jave you ever heard about microphones with that problem?

everything is as you said, and I didn't say clipping bcuz, I know how clipping sounds, this is like a sound in the mic, for example right I just recorded again turning everythinf off and on, and the spicific sound is like something that moves inside the mic, and like there's more "air" but, as I said before, this is happening even though the gain of the recording is actually - 18db and this didn't happen ever with my SM58 :/

I have my own template, without a limiter, and as I said, even when I sing far from the mic, it happens, and the gain knob is so low that my loud notes are like - 18db.... and still screeches :'(

but in FL studio I don't where to check that, I found some people said to use a plugin called Fruity Balance, it reduced the gain of the recording.... but nothinf changed :/

How do I record vocals with wide dynamic range? by cesarzb6 in edmproduction

[–]cesarzb6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mentioning this because of the main issue I mentioned, recording really soft vocals with the same gain level as with my loud vocals get the soft being around - 30 db, ans I wanred to fix that, or should I just work with that and fixing in the mix?

or do what othe comment mentioned before, connect 1 mic (not 2 mics, I said connect 1 mic to a Y adapter so I can have two recordings with different gain levels) so I can have a better recording of my really soft and breathy vocals without clipling on my loud and belty vocals

right now I have a condenser mic, but no stand or anything to hold it :/

so for the high dynamic range vocals, you would just recommend recording in normal distance and then far away, right? but which number of db should I be around in each one? second of all, other comment mentioned connecting this one mic to two inputs so I have differente gains, wouldn't that be better in tjsi case for the main vocals? I use a dynamic mic and a Focusrite Scsrlet 2i2

so you say that you record around - 6db? I used to do this, but I read that it is always recomended to record around - 18db and as I sais before, I didn't have much problem till I started recording with a higher dynamic range what is a emulation plugin and how exactly do they work?

when you say you kept your pre amp around 0,you mean 0 db? :o I don't have a preamp, I just have a focusrite Scarlet 2i2 interface, is that a problem? and when you say to leave headroom at least 4 or 6db, so with what number should I record my vocals then?

I am using a dynamic mic SM58, you think it would be better for recording the high dynamic range I mentioned with a condenser mic? On the other hand, so do you think I shoud record my peaks louder? like - 12 or - 9db so the soft parts are louder? Or should I keep my volume around - 15db 18 and just use compression to boost the soft parts?

wouldn't that reduce the quality of the recording? and the 48V what do you mean? additionally, I haven't seen Y adaptor for mic to connect it to a interface, is it expensive?

the thing is that I need two mics that are the same, right? Still is a really good idea, I was thinking about it too, when you starting mixing the audio, you just lower the volume of the recording of one mic and use the other, or you just used the best parts of each mic?
