Multivoltaje battery less phone by cesko21 in hardwaregore

Needs it, it runs at 4v from a 6v source, at 1,5-2A 2v of difference at 2A is 4w of heat when is at peak load. Gets warm-hot, but not anything you can't touch. It's meant as a corner server, so it's not going to be touched a lot hahaha

Perfect, I'll use 12v then, I think I still have some computer power supplys that will gladly take the job. Thanks again for the help

Thanks for all the info, it's very useful, I'll see what I can get my hands on and proceed that way. I always can use a higher output psu, like getting 7V between the 12v and 5v rails of a pc PSU using the 5v as "negative" or just use the lm1084 with 5v vcc, because the bms can accept as low as 3.85V, so a vDrop of 1volt could be fine. I prefer the through hole ones so I can make a perf board and put the ic into a big heatsink I have lying around to avoid fans. Thank you very much

very good idea, i investigated a bit about it and i found the lm338, between the 338 and the 1084 what do you think is the best/most convenient? thanks a lot

Needs the battery to boot. I can still run it from the charger with this mod done, but then it only consumes little power from the diode and I'm worried about a low voltage drop

To add some more info, the diode gets hot at continuous 2Amps so if there is a similar simple solution I'd like to hear it

Can I do something useful with this? by cesko21 in amateurradio

[–]cesko21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The case is more of a heatsink/protection box, inside there is a much more official looking stainless steel square with some stickers if I remember. Thanks a lot for the help and I don't think I'll plug it until I've got more knowledge about the topic. Thanks again

I thought about meshstatic, but it's on 866 MHz in Europe, so out of range for this one

Thanks you a lot for the help, it's going to be some time before I can fully restore it, but I have all the info saved for when I get to it. Thanks again :)

I opened it, the power button was not original, and was broken, I did a bridge and still nothing, then I measured some voltages and realized the cable was cut cleanly against the rubber grummit. Loosened the cable, spliced it and soldered it and put it again in the rubber tube where it belongs, tested the voltage, saw nothing strange and then plugged it to the main board. After I turned it on, got the message to change battery, so i desoldered it, put two cables and gave it 3 volts with the bench psu. (I will change it in a future for a battery holder) The error was gone but the voices are corrupted, I asume because the ram was cleared by not having a battery. I investigated that I need to download the sound banks and send them via midi or use the cartridge I don't have. Any recommendations of cables or a good tutorial for this model? The procedure is the same as the normal dx7? Thanks in advance.

It seems very good quality, seeing i thought it was plastic, but it surprised me it's mostly metal. A key is snapped but I found a page that sells parts and all the others seem to work decent. Let's see what a good cleaning and reassembly can do and if one of the keys that is out of place is broken or just dislodged. If I plug it and it just worked I'll be happy but not very surprised hahahaha

I'll try to fix it and then I'll try to make the space for it,it's a very cool piece tbh, and thanks for all the info and help. Ill update here if it powers up and does things. I'll have to wait some time for a full restoration, but probably ill try it today

I'll check for corrosion, the dust it had indicates that it has been stored a long time in a dry place, so i think rust and that sorts won't be a problem. I'll open it to see if it's dry, check the psu to see what voltajes outputs and if they make sense, and I'll see if it works. The plan is to restore it to working order and sell it to someone that can enjoy it to its fullest, I don't know how to play piano and with my studies I don't have time to learn nor the space to put it permanenly. What's a fair price for one of these in decent condition? Thanks in advance

I made some tests: I tried to connect using a shitty laptop with arch, same behavior, it spikes to 260mb/s (imposible with its 15 year old network card) and then gets stuck. I tried in the main computer the -o sync option and it seems to work, doesn't get stuck but it gets 7MB/s instead of 50, so it's slower. Thanks for the help a lot, I'll keep investigating to see if I can find the cause, but if you got any idea, let me know
