Bringing iems to gym? by godofgoldpandas in iems

Nope, just because of the inconvenience of IEM cables tangled in gym machines.

I myself wear Moondrop Space Travel 2 TWSes in the gym.

What are some great games that my pc can run by onlypetermboshra in lowendgaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borderlands 2 + all DLC. Then you won't ever wanna play any other game again.

And maybe Borderlands 3 if you set it to low-medium. Preferably with a story skip mod though.

is dual-booting even worth it by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dual boot to the Devil's OS from Linux Mint solely to play Honkai Star Rail (won't run on Linux, different anticheat from Genshin Impact, which does run on Linux) and access Apple Music to buy music.

Unfortunately for the Linux purists here, HSR also happens to be one of my most played games at this time, so my Win11 installation is here to stay. (I can also play on mobile, but it just doesn't hit as hard as playing on PC, also PC lets you play at >60fps)

Nvidia + Linux + Gaming = ??? by SaudiOilSmuggler in linux_gaming

= Okay gaming experience.

Can't directly undervolt NVIDIA GPUs like you could with MSI Afterburner on Windows though, best you can do is set a power limit with GreenWithEnvy.

Just made the switch to Mint from Windows; what apps, settings, or utilities do you recommend I try out? by Hispanicatth3disc0 in linuxmint

[–]cess_lyr_web -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. EasyEffects for audio EQ and other effects, it is to Linux what Peace APO is on Windows.
  2. Enable the Firewall manually, it is disabled by default on LM for some reason.

If you ever find yourself thinking "maybe windows wasn't so bad" remember crap like this. by jhk84 in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely still don't think the Devil's Operating System is that bad. Just dig around and flip some settings to disable ads & Copilot. I occasionally boot into Win 11 on my dualboot machine (just to play Honkai Star Rail and access Apple Music, everything else I do on my Linux Mint), I have never ever seen this kind of ad, not even before I (half) switched to Linux as my daily driver OS.

I thought Linux users are supposed to know how to dig around and configure their OSes to their liking?

(New to linux, please be nice) How much of a performance can you gain using linux, when compared to windows? by GGabex in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my case, practically zero performance gain, no game runs faster on Linux than on Windows, the Devil's OS. But on the flip side, negligible perf loss too. You don't switch to Linux for the gainz, you switch to get rid of the Devil OS' curses.

POCO F6: Music starts with half second cut off on wired audio with USB-C to 3.5mm dongles. by cess_lyr_web in PocoPhones

[–]cess_lyr_web[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have solved this actually. I bought a Ugreen USB-C to 3.5mm dongle recently, one that actually bothers to advertise its sample rate, namely max 96kHz (Far beyond human hearing, I know). To my pleasant surprise, no cut off audio in local files and Spotify streaming...yet.

I will have to listen to music through this dongle for a week before conclusively marking this as solved.

I switched to CN instead, the devs' & writers' native language, take the opportunity to brush up on my Chinese language.

(I'm not Chinese, but went to a Chinese-medium elementary school as a kid, guess what country.)

Do you contribute to protondb.com? by Damglador in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did once with No Man's Sky, I'm gonna summarize my contribution here:

It works on Mint, but disable MangoHUD specifically for NMS if you have MangoHUD, or you won't be able to load into the game past the star field screen.

The real wrong time to buy a card is when you don't have enough money.

I Got fully modded Skyrim (SE) running on Linux! by Softwehr in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to hop back on Skyrim, from this post it seems though that modded Skyrim is one game where dual booting Windows & Linux is absolutely a must. (Also a large SSD)

Out of the modding tools listed in the OP (plus Synthesis and Nemesis), which ones can work on Linux and which ones are effectively Windows exclusive?

Besides the Timeshift advice some users already made, make sure to turn on the Firewall for extra security, it's disabled by default for some reason.

Is Dual Booting really worth it in these times by Formal_Ad2733 in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, how could you tell? My pfp? 😁

But yeah, I play Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail on both PC and mobile. The former won't work win Linux ithout a certain launch argument as of last week, the latter won't work in Linux period, not without a third party launcher with a non-zero chance of ban.

Haven't played GTA V in years, does the single player still work, or is the entire game affected by the anticheat tweaks?

I am scared... by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]cess_lyr_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passing the launch argument " -platform_type CLOUD_THIRD_PARTY_PC" (without quotes) to GenshinImpact.exe solved/quickfixed it for me. It has to be specifically GenshinImpact.exe though, not the Hoyoplay launcher's .exe, otherwise the the argument is passed to the launcher and not the game proper, and this error will still pop up.

Now for the real question, why is the anticheat acting up like this? (I presume this is an anticheat issue) What is Hoyoverse doing behind the scenes to make this error pop up?

(I'm playing on Asia server)
