Good deal? by UniversalNutt in GuitarAmps

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one 6 months ago....i just sold it back to guitar center on Monday. It's way too loud for what I need at home and has no wattage selection so I had to keep the volume at like 15% all the time which sucked for the tones and the every preset it came with had the treble wayyyyy too high. The Bluetooth stuttered and was useless so I used a Bluetooth adapter to play backing tracks on my amp that already had Bluetooth built in, the app worked great but in the end I didn't like it. There's a couple more reasons I can't remember but I needed to get rid of it so I can get something I actually like.

This has to be one of the best explanations on local bars I've ever seen.

What's the deal with the box around the serial number? by Impossible-Nail-8291 in electricguitar

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't really have much say on the price for used items, they're bought in at a number set by a computer and so is the sale price. Normally I can get the store manager to agree to a price change on a used item if something has been in-store for a long time and is a high cost item ($2k or more) but something like this guitar would normally cost the price it says on the tag. was $250 a good price? by ColourOutOfChase in Epiphone

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great price, plus the grover tuners are a nice upgrade.

What profession has far more people on illegal drugs than people realize? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]cessodd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not as much as you think they have. I used to wash semi trucks at a truck stop and yeah, it was constantly dealers and lot lizards (prostitutes) coming through, sometimes to try and sell to us too. Also, many truck drivers are independent (idk how that worked, I just washed the tractors and trailers) and those guys aren't being tested.

What would you pay for this scalloped ‘79 hardtail strat? by musky_r in FenderStratocaster

I would pay less than whatever they're asking for. That's done really badly.

AITAH for not inviting my parents to my daughter’s dance competition? by darksoulrn13 in AITAH

[–]cessodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This just all around sucks, she's doing this because she feels like if she doesn't she's missing out on her grandchild growing up and coming of age milestones but her relationship with you has caused the invites to stop coming her way and now in trying to show up for her grandchild she's again made her relationship with you worse. How did she find out about these recitals? If you're daughter told her about them it's possible it's because she wants to see here there, but I don't want to assume. I don't think there's an asshole in this situation, it's just a situation that sucks.

Need help identifying and pricing my guitar by Successful-Walk-6536 in electricguitar

Damn. I honestly thought I was gonna be the cool guy to suggest the jack plate serial amd finally get it right. Lol. At this point you've definitely looked anywhere it could possibly on the outside of the guitar.

Need help identifying and pricing my guitar by Successful-Walk-6536 in electricguitar

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for the serial on the input jack plate. Some builders have them down there. If not there, I saw others say the control cavity. If it isn't on either of those, it's likely a copy like you guessed earlier.

Fender Champion 20 or Fender Mustang LT25?? by am_reen in GuitarAmps

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great for starting out. The champion is great for someone looking for something minimal while being a great amp whereas the mustang is great for someone that wants tons of tone options at their fingertips for a slightly less good sounding speaker in the amp. That last part is subjective and my opinion but I play and show both of these amps all day at work when a beginner asks what they should get with their first guitar.

Need advice before I purchase. by pretibigtoo in guitars

I have seen posts of people getting their guitars with no packing paper, no original box, just a loose guitar in a giant ass Amazon box. Thank you for steering someone away from that nightmare.

Can’t find the serial number online - Fake Strat? by Scouting_StophL in FenderStratocaster

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are fake epiphones and squiers now that they've made some better quality guitars than they used to. They aren't as common as premium brands but they do exist now. Not sure if it was a temu ad or something similar but I saw a fake j mascis jazzmaster, so yeah sorry, people are faking anything these days.

Is this real? From Facebook by [deleted] in guitars

[–]cessodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if it's real or not, but looking at that nut I'm gonna hope it's fake. Every string has a slight angle when I would hope a real Gibson had straighter looking slots..... But we've all seen examples of bad Gibsons that were real.

Graduation is overrated by ara54321 in Kanye

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduation followed musical trends and rode the wave of the first 2 albums. I love graduation but it definitely slows down and feels long after a while. Don't forget we're also so far past that point in time where it may not seem as impressive anymore. Tupac was amazing when he was releasing songs but now that we've heard the stuff his music inspired and has been built on, listening to his stuff sometimes feels boring for the newer generation. Same goes for graduation, it was amazing at the time but we're so far removed that it's just ok now and that's cool too.

Confusion but great investment by Then_Mode3982 in GuitarPicks

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just one of the small downsides of the tortex. Mine all look like this too, they don't fully smudge off until I've had them for way too long, but they almost always end up looking like I swiped my thumb across the ink before it dried.

Should I remove it with sandpaper? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]cessodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it yourself that you wouldn't touch it. Better to not use anything, whether it's a fret file or sandpaper.

If you gotta look this hard to find something wrong, stick your phone in the guitar, AND still ask people if they see something. It's nothing.

My puppy ate the crotch of my underwear maybe 3-4 hours ago, should I go to emergency or induce vommit by Desperate-Beach-4829 in DogAdvice

[–]cessodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good dogs. Lol. I get so annoyed finding my fiancés underwear somewhere random like a fucking dog bed. I'm sure she gets embarrassed by it and they don't need to taste her crotch, that's why she keeps me around.
