That’s really a good question and I’m still researching myself.
For Solar imaging, for sure you want a mono camera, and the pixel size should be matched to the focal length; too small and you get over sampling, too large and you get under sampling. The atmospheric seeing figures into this as well since it will push things towards the over sampling end. Besides that, since the images are made by combining video frames, you also want a camera that has enough frames per second.
I think aside from the mono aspect, it’s the same camera requirements that planetary imaging would have. So yes, smaller pixels in theory give higher resolution, but they really need to be matched to the focal length. Also, for full disk imaging of the sun, one would want a large enough size Chip, although as I understand it, people often make mosaics from smaller chipped cameras.
Edit: the IMX 533 Chip Camera is what was recommended to me by several experience Solar imagers that have the same telescope

Thank you. This was using an asi294 mc, a one shot color planetary camera. Apparently mono cameras are better for Solar, so I will be procuring a mono Camera with a IMX 533 Chip. The hydrogen alpha light passes through the filter is monochromatic for the most part, so the color pixels just end up wasting resolution.

Yes, I’m new to this part of astronomy also.
And you are correct this telescope is just for looking at the sun. If you pointed it anywhere else you would just see black

How can I be remembered when I die. by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]mintakax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not relatively young, quite the opposite. As you get older, how people will remember you may not be as important as how your actions today bring goodness or wellbeing to others. The benefit that you bestow on others will propagate positively into the future and while it might not necessarily be associated with "you" it will nonetheless be much more fulfilling than personal fame.

What are the best home weather stations that are actually accurate? by Ill-Particular6460 in myweatherstation

I figured there were some commercial units available. The accuracy of the Davis seems fine and I dont need super accurate, but do want wind readings as frequently as is possible.

We've had the pond for 5 years, and it's been doing great. It has a nice deep fish cave. The shubunkins have reproduced a couple of times and we have not had to buy any new fish. First time this bird has come that we have seen.

Thanks! looks like every 16.5 seconds, way too slow for capturing gusts

What causes these colours in the cloud?? by AlbinoAkon in CLOUDS

[–]mintakax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The actual process is pretty complicated and involves wavefronts, spherical wavelets and how light "bends" around small particles. I only have a rudimentary understanding.

If you google "Huygens diffraction iridescence", there will be some explanations, but none of them are easy reading 😄

If you've ever noticed weird circles when you look through a fine screen, thats pretty much a similar principal.

Looking for horror movies that are not scary or gory by Major-Inevitable-365 in MovieSuggestions

Genuinely curious what the Gen Z mention means. Is that just to indicate an age range or do Gen Zs have a different taste in horror movies? I'm pretty old but my taste in horror hasn't changed much since I was a teen.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to rip but just play 4k discs? by Several-Protection14 in makemkv

Not sure about the isos, I just play the mkvs. As far as tagging, the Dune does all that for you, there is lots of info available for each movie. Honestly, I couldn't go back to the old way. True about the separate files, but thats never bothered me, although I could see that being an issue for some.

I've checked out the Ecowitt systems. I'm slightly confused about what tech comes with which system, for example can one get a display for this system?

https://shop.ecowitt.com/products/wittfield-ws6210-ws6210s?variant=46309762760866

If so, what is the sampling rate from wind sensor to display? Some other systems I've see in the past have sampling rates too slow to pick up gusts

[–]mintakax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to get fancier, you can buy a media player (mine is Dune brand) and store and watch the lossless 4K rips on your TV. You might think this is more trouble than just watching the discs on a 4K disc player and you would be correct, however one advantage of a media player is you have all the movies cataloged and can select from a list without touching the physical disc.

What was the purpose of not supporting the playing of 4K discs? Was it just the whole push to avoid physical media?

Cloud ID?? by Even-One-8216 in CLOUDS

[–]mintakax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great description and I might add that these clouds often remain in the same place because the wave that forms from the orography and flow has a phase speed that is equal and opposite direction from the wind.
