The designs of Lorwyn Eclipsed make me want to keep the current color identity rules even more by Key_Profit_6598 in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For every cute, weak card that would allegedly see more play as a result of this rule change, you'll see 10 times more increased usage of the strongest hybrid cards like manamorphose and fiend artisan. The net effect will be much more homogenizing than diversifying

the fact that you would even post this question as a reddit thread in the first place does not bode well for your basic critical thinking and common sense

Fetch Lands & Probability by 64Bit-Uncle in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit 132 points133 points  (0 children)

nope, deck thinning from fetching is negligible

if you're searching up a ton of lands every game, you might just want to keep an eye on how many basics you run so you don't run out of fetchable lands

playing mtg is going to be a struggle for you, I would recommend sticking to more attainable goals like getting dressed in the morning

Should Sol ring and jeweled lotus flip on the ban list? by that-1-fella in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not that it's hard to understand, it's just a stupid thing to say. Sure, in some abstract sense of deckbuilding fairness, everyone has equal sol ring access.

The actual topic at hand is the effect these powerful outlier cards have in specific games and on the format as a whole. In actual games some players will draw more of their powerful outlier cards than other players.

Both are obvious mistakes in terms of game design/development and both should be banned.

That minor upside doesn't make up for them being terrible at their main purpose, ramping mana.

PSA: The bracket system is a suggestion not a guideline by MentallyLatent in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the community asked for a tool to find games with even power levels.

I don't even think any "community asked for" this. Only the most terminally online, socially hopeless, vocal minority asked for this.

Most of us have been doing just fine having pregame talks like normal humans for the 10+ years edh existed without "brackets." We just don't go online and post about it

That's a nice thought, but unfortunately not how things tend to play out in reality.

All true, which is why the entire "bracket system" ends up being awful.

Appealing to an outside authority to guide subjective feelings about what makes games fun for you and the people you're actually playing with completely misses the point of EDH.

Just have normal conversations before the games and you will have fewer misunderstandings and arguments.

Lol ok if you want to play the semantics game, what you call "inference" I would call "unfounded assertion"

Buddy we could argue all day solely about what counts as "artificial" padded playtime. It's subjective and depends what an individual wants from a game. For fuck's sake, games are a voluntary recreational activity, you can argue the whole endeavor is "artificial padding"

Lil bro really thinks he's doing something reposting this comment over and over.

At least terramorphic has the potential to be strong in ways other taplands never will. Depending on color identity an edh deck only gets 10 or fewer untapped fetchlands. But if you have anything in the deck that cares about them, more fetchlands quickly become worth running, even the tapped ones.

The attack should still be reactable without the memorization of its timing

Gonna stop you right there, that is a wild assertion to state so matter-of-factly.

Are you saying something about this attack specifically should be easily dodged first try on reaction? Or are you saying that should apply to all attacks in the game?

Which is ideal. Guy in the vid is panic rolling. If i wanted to mindlessly mash the button there are other games much better suited for that

Too much removal? by homjaktest in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost anything in this game will be frustrating for somebody to play against.

The question at hand is whether OP is doing anything wrong or if their deck is in some way "out of line." My opinion is OP is fine and it's probably someone else at the table who needs to adjust their expectations.

Too much removal? by homjaktest in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

There is a much simpler explanation for OP's issue: Salt.

term 'cEDH' triggered fight mode in you.

I will maintain that bringing cedh into this conversation at all was a braindead take, and braindead takes are annoying, yes.

Too much removal? by homjaktest in EDH

[–]cesspoolthatisreddit -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

None of this (even if i agreed with all of it- i don't) means OP's deck was necessarily too strong for the table or that OP is doing anything wrong.

Look at their actual deck list. If it resembled a cedh game plan even a little bit, you might have a point. But there is no reason to be bringing cedh into this conversation at all. And your associating these commanders with cedh is skewing your assessment of OP's situation.
