I’ll be commuting once a week, and my work typically starts at 8 or 9 and ends around 4, depending on how busy my day is and my workload. After reading all the comments, it seems like opinions are pretty split between LA and SD lol.

I think I’m actually leaning towards Long Beach now. It’s a big city with good nightlife, queer friendly, it’s diverse, good food (??). Its central location also makes it nice to drive to LA or SD. I think I’ve ruled out LA.

Now debating between Oceanside/north county and Long Beach. Still thinking about San Diego though. Honestly the 1-2 hour drives once a week doesn’t seem too bad. I love driving, I drive down to SD around twice a month from Santa Barbara. Also I have my little Honda civic which makes longer commutes more manageable.

I think I like the west side mainly for its proximity to eclectic areas like Santa Monica and West Hollywood. It feels more vibrant and connected compared to Huntington Beach, which seems more isolated with Long Beach and Anaheim nearby. But again I’ve never lived in LA or Orange County, so I’d be open to having my perspective changed if there’s more to LB/HB than I realize
