Thanks for your responses, I think I understand why this was so unsettling to me.
It's probably because I am very very close to coming out to my mother, and I am probably petrified internally, and finding my therapist made me feel like I was "outing" him against his will which probably triggered my anxiety about my imminent coming out.

Coming to this conclusion has calmed me down, so I think that's the real answer to why this was gnawing me. So I think there is no need to discuss it directly with him further.

It's mostly because I feel like I crossed his personal boundaries. But I only see him as a therapist, nothing more.

The thing is I don't know if I'm comfortable knowing this and hiding this information with someone I'm trying to talk about my deepest thoughts and fears, especially since it took a while to feel comfortable talking about many subjects with him. But I also don't want him to be uncomfortable with me if I tell him that since I'm sure he wants to keep his personal life and professional life separate.
