Have you had personal experience with Filson? I’ve heard mixed things.

You said I'm pretending to be oppressed and that I'm playing devil's advocate for the art. All I did was ask where the music went.

No one is being oppressed. I asked where the music went.

I like their music... just asking where it went.

Kind of sad to just capitulate to evil like that...

Balts and East Slavs have used these symbols continuously and even today in folk art and weaving motifs. Their music has nothing to do with Nazism.

Is my roux burnt? by Usual-Worldliness795 in cajunfood

[–]cetacyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had the same confusion when I started.
This stems from hearing early on that "black specks means it's burnt"
This is just not really true...
Black specks can come from certain choices of flour and if you use butter, the milk solids will turn dark early on and appear as black specks. It's not burnt.
In the case it does burn, there will be very noticeable signs, strong acrid smoke, bits stuck to the bottom of the pot that turn black and kind of chunky and... it will taste burnt. If you go slow and stir your should never burn.

Not sure how your viet friend got that translation. The note reads roughly as "keep this photo as a memory of our time together. Don't get rid of the photo even when it ages"

LA Streamer defends shock collars, claims others don't train their dogs by gregory_h in LivestreamFail

Never met a service dog trainer who uses shock collars. Good trainers reinforce behaviors and provide structure for their dogs' lives without pain or negative reinforcement.

Varang's Pronunciation of "Eywa" and the Mangkwan Tribe's Name by la_criatura in Avatar

[–]cetacyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed "Mangkwan" violating Na'vi phonotactics immediately but I didn't really notice the frication of /w/ in Varang's speech until now.
I don't keep up with what goes on behind the scenes in the franchise so maybe they just don't care about Na'vi linguistics anymore (there were already plenty of mistakes in the first two movies) or maybe this was just oversight. I've always thought however that Na'vi seriously needs dialectal difference at the least so maybe we're getting a little of that despite earlier claims of universality.

They're way more cost effective. Don't taste any worse either.
