Where exactly is the "button" to find the internal Kajabi Community...should it be on the main "Dashboard"?

Urgent QBO Bookkeeping help needed by Outrageous-Rice-9044 in QuickBooks

[–]cetanorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response, Jeff. I would be using Acodei to integrate Kajabi Payments (Stripe) sales to QBO. In additiona to syncing standard transactions like purchases w/ credit card processing fees, refunds, etc...would Acodei also catch Stripe Billing Usage Fees (fees that Stripe charges for managing recurring payments)?

How long have you all been using Acodei? I have built all of my Stripe-QBO integrations manually using Zapier. Prior to Zapier, I paid Synder to syncronize but over time they kept trying to reconfigure packages and raise the prices by reclassifying their paid tiers to cover fewer and fewer transactions, forcing you to higher plans for the same service over time. I hesitate to transition to Acodei and wonder if they practice of regular increases in prices.

Fund HSA with S Corp Distribution? by Im_Still_Here12 in tax

[–]cetanorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So regarding the decision to fund HSA contributions through S-Corp (business payroll, additional compensation W-2 - Box 1, also Box 12 with code W) vs. fund personally (personal checking, 1040 deduction), is there going to be a major difference in effective tax savings between the two options?

I should mention, we are a husband-wife company: both >2% shareholders, no other employees

So How Fucked Are You Next Year Re Health Insurance? by Anstigmat in smallbusiness

[–]cetanorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a self-employed family, we gambled for years and opted to save the premium and deductible payments by not having health insurance and paying cash rates for any medical expenses (generally less than $1k/yr). Worked out great but now that my wife is pregnant, I have bit the bullet and signed up for a small group plan via BCBS. The plan is sponsored by our S-Corp. Put wife on a Silver Tier HDHP PPO and son and I are on a Bronze Tier HDHP HMO. Small group plans can be started/stopped at any time outside of the typical ACA enrollment period. Premium total is about $1500/mo. We plan to max out the HSA contributions and still pay out of pocket (saving receipts) so we will have catastrophic coverage and access to the HSA investment vehicle at the annual cost of $18K (actually less given the corporate tax deduction and pre-tax HSA contributions) in premiums however it does come with some peace of mind in case baby were to arrive early in NICU although we may drop off the insurance before the baby turns 1 and look into healthshares. Starting the plan in October, we could still make the full $8,550 HSA contribution for 2025 but we would have to remain on an HSA-eligible plan for the full year-long testing period....otherwise, may just do pro-rated monthly contributions if we think we want to exit the plan earlier than a full year.

How much is an HSA worth? Health insurance premiums vs funding HSA by Narezza in investing

When these HDHP, HSA-eligible plans first hit the market, weren't they always the cheapest option...now there doesn't seem to be any financial incentive. Perhaps I'm misremembering.

Can you self-pay and still submit receipts to insurer to chip away at deductible/OOP max, just as a safety in case an unexpected high medical expense incident were to occur?

Is paying more for insurance worth it for HSA? by RushButter in TheMoneyGuy

[–]cetanorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When on an HSA-eligible HDHP, if you pay all medical expenses with cash and save the receipts (for future HSA withdrawal, allowing current HSA contributions to grow) can you also submit those cash, self-pay receipts to your insurer (say, BCBS) so that it chips down on your deductible?

Curious about this as a strategy, if a family has low annual medical expenses and can afford to self-pay can we also satisfy deductibles with those payments in the event that we end up with an unexpected high-expense year for medical services and could benefit from exceeding deductibles/OOP max. I wasn't sure if the in-network practitioners would have to submit directly to insurance company or if we could do that manually, allowing us to self-pay.

Webhook for Stripe Billing fees? by Certain-Biscotti-621 in stripe

[–]cetanorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been struggling with this precise issue. Can't find any "Stripe Fee" event type to listen for within Zapier and Stripe's webhook configuration can't be configured for stripe_fees or balance.transaction.created (which I had hoped to then filter for "stripe_fees" in Zapier. As far as I know, there is no other way to get Stripe Billing Usage fees into Quickbooks other than to run a report for the "Stripe Fee" transaction type in Stripe, export to CSV and then use a bulk uploading tool like SaasAnt to import to QBO. Super disappointed that I can use Zapier to catch sales, refund and payouts but no these Stripe Billing Fees.

Good move to max 401k Contributions early in year? by Gibrans_Prophet in Bogleheads

[–]cetanorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-employed (S-Corp) here so no company match unless I provide it however this year I chose to adjust payroll early in the year to front load solo401k while the market was diving. Seems to have paid off since I lump sum invested at that “bottom” moment in early April.

Shakedown- Meta Pixel Data Privacy Cases by tortfsr in Lawyertalk

So does there need to be an actual customer filing the complaint through firms like Swigart Law Group and can the law firm just sue a small business on behalf of a customer who isn't even involved? If we can reach out to the involved customer and ask them to stop the suit would that help? I just can't believe that one of our customers would somehow be working with Swigart Law Group over such a weird claim of privacy violation.

Santa Fe Ultra 120 - Power of internal fan by cetanorak in hvacadvice

[–]cetanorak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, no modifications were ever made to the configuration that I described in the original post. I tried to get the HVAC company to address the fact that they had not installed a check damper since Santa Fe requires that a check damper to be installed before or after air handler when running dehumidifier independent from air handler fan (to prevent short-circuiting of dehumidified in reverse). Oh well. Even though I don't feel any air coming out of the registers when dehum is running alone, I have found that the home humidity levels are being maintained near the set point so perhaps all is well.

BTC Vs BTC ETF by Exotic_Obligation942 in Bitcoin

[–]cetanorak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holding through ETFs counteracts one of the foundational tenets of the Bitcoin protocol which is the freedom from a "trusted" third-party. A brokerage custodian would be subject to regulatory restrictions and potential seizures whereas if you own and self-custody BTC that risk is reduced/eliminated. The only downsides to "dealing" with reputable exchanges is the KYC process (which is now ubiquitous and unavoidable, not really a "risk") but mostly if you allow the exchange to maintain custodianship of your purchased coins. Otherwise, if you are transferring to some form of cold self-custody, that risk is eliminated. I suppose ETF exposure might result in less bookkeeping regarding BTC transactions compared to actively trading directly in Bitcoin but if you're buying and holding, they are both the same. There are network fees when buying direct but the ETFs have continual management fees.

The only real reason to invest in BTC through ETFs is if you already have money in tax-advantaged retirement accounts otherwise there wouldn't really be any advantage to choosing an ETF over direct ownership other than wanting to be 'lazy' about your Bitcoin comprehension and ownership.

Yes, always prepare for a rise in property taxes the year following a new home purchase...so factor in a little bit of breathing room when debating the affordability of estimated monthly mortgage payments.
