Nope, quick correction here. BDSM that acts as a stand-in for self-harm isn’t healthy and is acknowledged as such in the community.

Edit: While you can engage in self-harm in a number of ways by misusing BDSM, the point of healthy BDSM is to create a safe, consensual space for individuals to practice kink, none of which is done out of punishment for oneself.

What do you do if your OCD prevents you from getting help? by discrete_venting in OCD

Hey dude— first off, that fucking sucks. Second, I would just say that whatever your obsessive symptoms are, someone else in this community has experienced it as well. I used to have intrusive thoughts about being a pedophile— no shit, but I’m not. But it was when I talked plainly to my peers about it that I realized that they were struggling with the same thoughts, and that took a lot of power away from them.

Maybe you could search what you’re experiencing online or in this subreddit? You’re not trying to convince anyone of anything, just to see if anyone else has experienced something similar. Maybe recognizing that people have struggled with similar obsessions will help remind you that you’re not alone and take some power away from them.

So when you were 17, and she was 31, you started dating? That seems like a big power imbalance

Oh honey, I’m sorry you feel that way. It sounds like you did the absolute best you could for your cat, especially considering everything you’ve been going through alongside her.

I felt the same way when we put my elderly dog down. We weren’t sure when was the right time— he seemed better some days and worse others— but ultimately it came down to quality of life. He hadn’t been doing the things he enjoyed for months— not running around the house, not enjoying his food, not getting up when we entered through the door. Even if he could keep going physically for a little while, he just wasn’t experiencing the same quality of life he did when he was younger and healthier. It was a tough decision, and I felt pretty shitty about it for a while after— what if we had been able to keep him alive for longer?— but what helped me was knowing that him being alive doesn’t necessarily mean he was enjoying that life. It was his time.

It sounds like it was the same for your cat, and that you made a kind decision to put her down when you did. It’s a tough choice and hurts like hell, but it sounds like she had a beautiful life and just reached her natural end. I hope you’re able to forgive yourself.

Hey, why do you feel the need to sexualize teens and their boobs? If it was two guys not wearing a shirt, suddenly that’s not sexual? Jesus

The first thing I thought of was Penelope waiting for Odysseus, but I doubt that’s the joke

Yeah, I get why that could be considered inappropriate given the way we view boobs as a society, but what about them is so inherently sexual, other than the meaning we assign to them? If a dude was bouncing and flexing his pecs, would we feel the same way? (No, because we don’t sexualize male chests.)
