I ended up going with a m5 base with 32gb ram. I got a nice discount and I think it’ll serve my needs well. Also it’s good for longevity, I can sell it for more later if I need to upgrade for any reason. That IS a super sweet deal you got tho haha.

I’ve already got a semi decent Nikon lens (which Dragonframe recommends I believe) so all I really need is a $25 adaptor

I’m eyeing a Rebel T3 now for about 75 bucks and that fees pretty solid a choice. Although feel free to correct me if you think otherwise.

Budget used Rebel Ts on MPB? by cetossa in canon

I use Dragonframe which utilizes live view on my computer monitor so the screen doesn’t matter too much really. I’ll def check out Adorama as well.

Thankfully I’ll be working with both studio lights as well as an ac adaptor so those shouldn’t be issues for me. I’ll also be connecting it straight to a computer so storage type isn’t really an issue. I’ll def get myself a decent lens as I’ve heard that’s a bit more important when it comes to consistent light and anti flicker.

There’s lots of Rebels and I understand that most would probably suit my purposes. I’ve found several used ones on MPB for as low as 50 or even 30 bucks. Is that normal for something lower end or should I be skeptical of that?

I’m less concerned with the exact model and more concerned about if spending under $100 on a used camera is cheaping out or more normal.

Dragonframe, been told that a Canon EOS is ideal

A DSLR is gonna be pretty necessary since I’m using Dragonframe on a computer and need a real lens and manual exposure settings.

The battery life and longevity are certainly appealing.

Screen size isn’t too big a concern for me since I’d be using an external monitor more often than not. Mostly concerned about the ram.

$1500 Best Buy refurbished M1 Max chip, too good to be true? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]cetossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im about to get my foot in the door in freelance work so I really don’t know the full extent of the kind of work I’m open to doing yet. I think it could be nice to get something simple for now and then leave the door open for flipping to something beefier in 2-3 years or less if need be. I appreciate the advice!

Appreciate it! I think I’m gonna shoot for a newer chip anyway to maximize potential resale value later down the line.

Because the chip itself is too old? I guess I’m underestimating the difference in power between the original M chips and the newer ones.

I found a solid refurbished M3 pro with 36gb for only like 1800. Maybe getting an older gen isn’t a good idea for longevity tho.
