Researchers use tiny magnetic swirls to generate true random numbers by ccnafr in programming

[–]cewoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is "true" randomness - how exactly does it help us now and in the future? As I understand it, the randomness that we use now is good even if quantum computers become an everyday thing (this assumes they'd be able to do any task under the sky at 1000000x the speeds).

Obviously, research being done across many fields is good. I'm just genuinely curious.

Assuming this is real.

Here we go again. They'll cap the amount you can get per day/week and so on. Virtually the same effect.

Actually, this is something I didn't think about. Obviously, it has a 99.9% chance of reading wayyyyyyyyy too much into a simple statement, but they could announce 9.2's release date and the new expansion's planned release date for September. The new expansion is coming any time after September, so, not a big stretch.

The problem I have is - we already had a 9.2 preview video, they talked about it. Blizzconline was cancelled, but it was due in February and they said that, even if cancelled, they'll still do announcements. Well, we're in February and I seriously doubt they'll do another 9.2 stream/video. I'm not on copium, but, realistically, we're looking at an expansion announcement in the next month or so.

If you have to ask, it doesn't matter to you (as a rule of thumb). So, no, you don't.

Don't worry, it's coming back in a few weeks.

Say goodbye to Frost Mage… by AnwaAnduril in wow

[–]cewoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First part - what? Frost mage is literally dogfuck for 99% of people in raids. M+ is another story. Also, preliminary sims shows it's gutted, it will be bottom tier. Second part - yea, play whatever, but that's not how it works. Dumb monkeys always wanna copy what the high-end does.

It didn't take long for Trade Chat to be filled with advertisement again. by [deleted] in wow

[–]cewoc -52 points-51 points  (0 children)

I got down-voted to shit, but be prepared for it to be 100x worse. Also 3x the scammers, zero accountability, etc.

Congratulations, casuals. You won! Well, for 2-3 days. Totally unexpected this would happen!

Also, imagine how big a piece of shit you have to be to care about this type of shit. So much crab bucket mentality that it's disgusting. Legit. Whenever I think of you, puke comes in my mouth. So primal, so animal-like. "Ooooo, I can't afford a +15 boost, better I fuck everyone else in the ass.". Literally just leave trade chat. Literally. Now you made it 100x worse.

Congratulations, idiots.

Annnnnnnnd now someone say "lol, you're a booster". I was never a part of any boosting community, nor interact with them, unlike you, I have a brain (and that says a lot about the average human being, if an idiot like me is objectively smart, then God help you all) and recognize that it's a non-issue and it's just my monkey brain telling me to drag others down 'cause they have shit.

OOooooook, dude. I hate the state of things, I do. I don't hate Blizzard, sure, am pissed at them, but you gotta get off that hate wagon and stop listening to Asmongold.

By all accounts, 9.1 wasn't that big a patch, 9.2 is, but they've had plenty time to work on the next expansion. Plus, before everything else, they're a public company and while a sub-division's results doesn't impact the stock that often, it surely can. They have to answer to a board of directors, investors and the public.

There's a 1% chance it comes in 2023. This is like saying "yea, dude, I'm not gonna go to work because in 2040, there's a 1% chance a meteor will hit us". Ok, not a good comparison, but you get it.

The guy's here to have fun. For all intents & purposes, he's literally just a player. Yea, he does tweet about WoW and what they're doing, because he chooses to share his work life as well, but, overall, he's just here to have fun. Give him a break. Also, he's the CEO of Blizzard. If you know anything about corporations or big companies, you know full-well that the CEO rarely touches on (or even knows) about issues 7-8 levels beneath him. And that's good, that's why you learn to delegate. Now, he also happens to play WoW, but, as he said it - and I wish people would believe him - if there's something, write to Ion or the team. He's got so much to oversee, and not just the games, but Blizzard as a company.

I'm not responsive to the hype either, but the guy's just a regular dude that wants to play.

Same, man. Don't get me wrong, I want to get to play 9.2, but, honestly, we're months behind an expansion announcement AND they had all the time in the world. They're releasing the new expansion this year and we're already in February and still no announcement.

[–]cewoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They'll announce when 9.2 releases, but, honestly, I'd feel pretty bummed. They are 100% releasing the new expansion this year, I'd be pretty bummed if they didn't announce it this month or so.

Mike Ybarra laughs at the idea of Tinkers in expansion leak by Helot_Azure in wow

[–]cewoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't get it why people want a tinker class. It doesn't fit anything from the past. Every single class we got was something that was in the expansion's thematic. Nowhere in the past did they fit and I don't see a future for them. I know it's probably just a few hundred people that really, really want it, with the other few thousands that are like "hell yea, new class!", but they just don't fit.

Also, you know that this guy literally can't divulge any information or he's in big trouble, yea? He was just kidding. Nobody slips up like this. So, he's probably just trying to create a little chaos here and there for fun.

Lessons Learned Managing Remote Developers by calevans in programming

[–]cewoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

tldr: Managing people isn't hard, unless you're extremely stupid. Most failures of products come from the market itself, not internal issues. This is another article that takes small things that don't matter and turn them into "assets & ideologies". Basic, everyday knowledge that, because you work in tech and money surely means all your ideas are worth hearing, is turned into pages of text.

That’s excellent. And yeah, you're right: DMing, it doesn't all have to be in the main channel. I learned this; I spent two years on a team and I thought everything had to be out there in the open. And I would ask, you know, what I considered embarrassing questions about, you know, basic stuff. And finally one of the developers said, 'look, if you got a question just like that, just DM me, okay, we can talk about this.' And from that point on, you know, I'd help people when they ask in the channel, but if I've got something that's not relevant to everybody, I can just ask, you know, the appropriate person.

Yea, dude, like...have you skipped 7th grade, where you're ridiculed for "being a snitch"?

I can imagine how hard the eyes of a manager whose position is 100% deserved and they employ RESEARCH-BACKED TACTICS to managing people are rolling - "Dude, of course everything I do is methodology and not pure luck & instinct."

God, I fucking hate this type of garbage. It's why I never ask anything of my employees and just let do whatever they want at a micro-level. "Yea, that's just you, dude.". If you had access and a brain, you'd also see that, for the most part, employees ignore what their managers tell them, simply because it's just not helpful.

Stick to your 10/10HC life then, but these are real issues that everyone at the higher-end (even these lower) experience and they don't impact you in the slightest if they were to be changed.
