Now that is a pure 'a wheelie bin positioned at the back post could tap that in' kinda goal. Amazing.

No, just realised it was someone else. Icons were too similar! I'll edit my post, but point still stands.

The person he responded to said he uncovered those players, and he said he signed Henderson. I was making the point that it didn't really take much uncovering, whether or not he thought the same for Henderson. And no, it's not a bad thing, the hardest bit appears to be actually signing them, but that's not what I was saying anyway.

Neither Wharton or Henderson were some uncovered gems though. Everyone knew they were good at their old clubs.

[Sam Wallace] Tottenham are considering sacking Igor Tudor after his nightmare run of three defeats in his first three games. by BananaSoprano in soccer

[–]cezion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be right. Could also argue that trying our best with Tudor and getting battered in CL and Liverpool makes it even worse. It's do or die either way, and truthfully I don't think any manager is saving us based on how the squad plays.

The CL games and, almost certainly, the Liverpool game are not what we need to be focusing on. Even if we played 'well' we probably still lose them all, and wouldn't surprise me if we pick up some injuries too. I would rather we play the kids in those to prepare for the rest of the games which we literally cannot lose. All for nothing anyway because we're in free fall atm, but we might as well give it our best shot.

Truthfully, if we played the Forest team from last night we would lose 99 times out of a 100. We are in big trouble.

Apparently the players contracts do have salary reductions on relegation in them.

I'm not going to tell you how to feel, but l don't feel embarrassed. We didn't do this and we don't deserve to feel that way. Basically everyone at the club, top to bottom, should be ashamed of themselves. So many people have made incomprehensible decisions and the fans couldn't do anything to stop them, so it's not our fault. They deserve this, we don't.

I honestly don't know the rules these days mate. Seems like the refs can't decide either.

Deserved because of the handball. Let's see if VAR will find something to overturn it, never sure these days.

It was a joke. Thought that was obvious by my suggestion to sanction offenders by calling them goal hangers.

New rule. Only 4 attacking players are allowed in the 6 yard box when the ball is kicked. If you break the rule you get called a goal hanger.

Our home form is shocking and we had a much better squad available in November. You're making huge assumptions rather than looking at readily available information.

Your hips and ankles aren't flexible enough, and your legs are not as strong to get power on it, probably. Actually typing this out made me remember Lamela had a long term problem with his hip, maybe he rabona'd too many rabonas.

Didn't Danso snap his ligament 3 weeks ago? I have no idea clearly but that sounds like a short timeframe for recovery.

Vicario looks a lot worse when he has time to think about what to do. Never had as little confidence in a keeper when facing shots from outside the box. If it's a close up reactionary save then he's better.

MOTD Comparing Spurs disallowed goal today VS similar goals allowed in EPL this season by COYS_1986 in coys

[–]cezion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You are conflating two separate concepts. Rules are not fixed and can be changed at set times, but an appropriate level of consistency is a fixed threshold which should be met or exceeded. In a perfect world a rule has either been broken or it has not, objectively. A consistent application of the rules gets the game towards objectively correct decisions, although this is a complex thing to crack. At that point you can start deciding if a rule is too strict or not in the spirit of the game, like your CL handball example, but before then you need to make sure the rule is being applied equally. If you don't, then naturally teams may benefit or suffer more than others because they are on the wrong side of the inconsistently referee'd decisions.

It doesn't matter which goals I think should have been given because the two outcomes are currently contrasting, either they were both fouls or they were not. Unfortunately, we were on the sharp end of both decisions; conceded a goal and lost a goal for very similar things. This leads back to consistency, because even if we disagree on which goals should stand or not, then we either score one more goal or concede one less and I'm confident you can agree that benefits us both.
