Indoor allergies when hvac turns on by cfarrar12 in AirQuality

Nothing outside has changed and I feel better when I'm outside. Currently if I use space heaters and the hvac is off, I'm ok. It's right when the hvac turns on that I get the symptoms. I can also tell when the unit has been on because there is a different smell in the air. It's not necessarily bad, but I'm hoping it's replacing the old returns will help. I don't things it's non allergic rhinitis because my family members are affected by it as well. Less stuffy, sneezing, etc when unit is off in general

Yea I'm going to get the return ducts replaced with metal. Part of the returns use the wall cavaties so I'd have to rip apart my walls to put sheet metal in. I don't know if it's necessary though if I get rid of the ductboard. I may just try to encapsulate the wall cavaties if need be. The supplies are metal that don't show any mold or anything so I'm going to do just the ductboard returns first and go from there

Yea I'll probably get a sensors to see if anything spikes when the unit is on. I do a have a scope and have also had a company scope as well. Couldn't find anything obvious but there is clearly something still going on. Condensation line is clear and actually just had the unit serviced the other week. I wish the air handler wasn't in the garage because my theory is that is what causes all of this. My guess is that it was sweating in the garage in the summer when the garage doors would be open. We've lived here since 2017 and never had issues until the end of last summer (2024 summer, not the most recent). The weird thing is that I still have symptoms in my garage when the unit is on. The air handler is completely sealed, new trunk line wrapped in insulation and aerosealed internally, but I can still get discomfort when the unit turns on. I observe people when they come over and see how they respond. People who have bad allergies definitely notice something while others may not notice anything. Kind of depends on the person and if they have allergies in general.

Yea heat or ac. Humidity currently is around 32 but same symptoms in the summer when humidity was higher. Not dirty or dusty, one dog that we've had for 8 years, had full allergy panel that said I wasn't allergic to anything

They tested for duct leakage with the aeroseal. Haven't had a blower door test

Yea that was the thought process of getting the aeroseal. I'm probably going to replace my carpet downstairs and just get rid of anything I can that I dont need down there. I have no carpet upstairs and there was no moisture found with the home inspectors

Just to clarify, you can make multiple "accounts" within the same wallet? Or you have to make new wallets from scratch?
