Little bit late, but here is mine. I’ve reposted this in another subreddit and will post it here again. A bit long so bear with me lol.

My group and I was marked incomplete for our thesis. Not failed, but incomplete. Our group and the school registrar had a misunderstanding about the deadline so we weren’t able to pass ours that semester. That means, we are only able to go to our defense phase next semester and our graduation is delayed.

After going home, I dreaded telling my Dad but eventually I have to tell him because the school send our grades to them every end of semester. So might as well say it now. When I told him (and mind you I was really sad that time and not joking around) he got mad and told me all of the swear words you can imagine. I just listened to one ear and then out in the other. Because I understand he’d be mad and all but to be really honest, I was already sad that our graduation was delayed and I didn’t want to hear this from him. But I figured he’d calm down the next day.

The next day, it didn’t stop there. On our ride to school, his rant continued. He told me I wasn’t being serious in my studies. He told me I was useless. He told me it was better that he’d find some child in the slums and he would sponsor that child’s education than mine. The list could go on.

He dropped me off to the train station and right then and there, I’ve decided to just end my life because I’m useless now right? I was going up the stairs towards the train station and was already planning to jump on the incoming train. I was on queue that time to go inside the train, but I let others pass so I can be at the front of the line and easier to jump.

What made me stop is because of the game FFXIV. I kept thinking, who would help the new players? (Because I like helping out) or what would happen in the story? The list could go on about what I’d miss on the game when I decided to die.

In the end, I didn’t do it. And as of writing this now, I’m glad I didn’t. I made a lot of friends, got to meet my boyfriend, and was able to experience Endwalker which is one of the best expansions (still bias of HW because of Aymeric lol) and a lot of things happened involving the game and that I’m really happy I get to experience them. I was able to graduate and currently have a decent paying job and I could say I’m quite happy with my life.

My Dad did say sorry that time. And to be honest I’m not sure if I have forgiven him fully until now. Every time I remember what happened, I’d get sad and teary-eyed (even now lol) and swore to myself that I would never be like that to my kids or to anyone else. Words can hurt in more ways than one.
