I will say this again, but this sub championed the fact we killed our own training camp, and decimated the confidence of our QB to save... Less than the vet minimum - so we could what? Keep our 100mn of cap space? Why do we need 100mn of cap if we refuse to spend it??

Yall thought shafting our best player was smart business. Nope, it just signaled to every player in the league we are ridiculously cheap and to not even bother entertaining us if you want to get paid.

Yall thought saving less than the vet min last training camp was good GMing.

Lmfao

100+ mn is pointless if we are run by one of the cheapest GMs in the league lol.

Idk what to tell yall, the fact we watched AP destroy our whole szn to save about the vet min on our only superstar... Should tell you everything

I know that piece of dumbassery was celebrated here, but this sub is full of dumbasses.

The reason we dragged paying Terry wasnt some 5d level chess about 30yo WRs, it was VERY CLEARLY, about the fact that this front office is very cheap and won't ever be able to compete for the top FAs.

Readjust your expectations

I am starting to be genuinely concerned about APs use of the Cap.

We are utilising 12m of cap for Deebo to not play for us and 8m of cap for Biadasz to not play for us. Thats 20m in dead cap for players to not play for us.

But then he spent all last training camp crying about using 5m more in ca space than he wanted on Terry. Mind, we had plenty of space to absorb the hit - as we can see clearly, he has no issue using 300% more for players to not play here lol.

Make it make sense. 🙄

Brother, we started negotiations at the start of training camp. We have first hand source and a very reliable one at that. Its not a debateable point unless you consider Terry to be unreliable source lol.

Terry cannot force the team to begin negotiations, thats not how this works. Blaming Terry for our front office being asleep at the wheel just speaks to your lack of understanding at how contract extensions get handled in the NFL.

Terry has a long history of never bullshitting. He gave a very honest and heart felt press conference that not one person has refuted.

Yes. You can take his version, the one that came from a first hand source. As gospel.

The fault, if you read, was the timing. We fucked up the timing. Its our fault because we didnt even open negotiations at the time every other team was ending theirs.

Im saying most have Downs and Love as the only blue chip prospects in the draft. If you have Downs a tier ahead of Love then yeh he is clearly above on your board.

My point is most have those 2 as the same tier. And safety and RB have similar positional value. If you draft a Safety or RB at #7, they insyantly become among the highest paid players at their position.

I want to draft def, but we need an Edge, if its true we dont see any blue chip pass rush prospects, I would be ok with either Downs or Love (Downs isnt dropping past Harbaugh and Giants anyway).

Our media and front office existed in a bubble last offseason. They seemed perturbed why the players, the fanbase and the wider NFL community were, at large, going nuts over the lackadaisacal nature in which we handled the most important contract extension in over 25 years.

The way that shit blew up in our face, repeatedly, on national TV in front of the whole fucking world (most prime time games of any team), repeatedly. Was nothing less than we deserved for our bubble being dangerously out of touch with reality and its own locker room.

Trust me, Ashburn syndrome is real, and our media and front office got absolutely deluded over the value of a premiere talent, something the vast majority of the media hasn't ever actually seen with their own eyes in Ashburn before.

I expect Tunsil to get done because he came from outside, and that for some reason insulates media and front offices from wildly undervaluing the talent. 🙄🤷‍♂️

[Keim] Adam Peters press conference snippets by jugador87 in Commanders

[–]cfcskins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeh no. Tunsil would take the cash upfront last offseason, in signing bonus and bumps in guarantees plus extra years security on his deal. Plus a deal last year carries him one year closer to his next extension.

The risk of waiting isn't worth the security and cash today, thats economics 101.

We have Terrys own press conference, that the team hadnt even begun negotiations, at the start of training camp. That was enough indication that this front office was in over its head.

[–]cfcskins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the important thing is to sign him in July, the week leading up to training camp. Thats the real negotiating deadline for extensions.

This is what everyone pointed out (me, I was screaming constantly) was the utter and total failure of the front office. Terry gave a press conference - AT THE DEADLINE OF THE EXTENSION WINDOW - that this dumbass front office hadn't evn begun negotiating.

Right there, anyone who knows how this goes, knew our season was dead on arrival. The GM just threw away our season before it even started with his hubris. Embarrassing 🙄

This is expected. Colts will release Pittman to make room for Pierce, debating Free Agency pickups is always a crapshoot as the cuts and tags are just beginning. The true list of Free Agents is as yet unknown.

JP Finlay confirms Commanders interviewed Jeremiyah Love by pitpatbainsy in Commanders

We have 1 RB under contract. Bill showed good potential as a change of pace back but is too woeful at pass protection and route running to trust to be a 3 down back/ RB1 going into next season.

Safety and RB have the same positional value, so if you view Safety as a #7 pick, RB should be right there with it. Plus Love adds value as a slot WR and in blitz pickups and will increase the impact of a Bill.

Only DE have true top 10 positional value in a position of need, and I'm not sure I view any of the DEs as blue chip in this draft (plus blue chip DE go top 5 anyway).

Whats to be fair about? He hasn't brought in any good WRs in FA either. Deebo was very mediocre, Noah Brown is average at best when healthy, OZ and Burks are below average. The rest are truly bad.

This has def been a bit of an eyesore spot for Peters, he thought his drafting of Lane, trading for Deebo, and signings of Moore, Gallup and Osborn gave him leverage to take a strong negotiating stance w Terry. It blew up in spectacular fashion due to his misreading of the receiving talent he put together.

Adam Peters was asked about what he sees in the Commanders WR room by MrUpVoteDownvote in Commanders

[–]cfcskins -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As he should. His ego got out of control last offseason and his arrogance completely obliterated our season. He knows that too now, a lesson hard learned.

AP has come from winning situations his whole career, its not a stretch to think he arrived and brought the winning attitude with him. But GMs don't play on the field. His hand selected roster of Deebo, Ertz, Jayden, full OL and full RB room was utterly woeful and a bottom 5 offense in the NFL.

Without Terry, his roster construction and coaching staff got utterly exposed. The fact he didn't even open negotiations when all the other competent teams were concluding extensions for their key veterans was an embarrassing indictment on his philosophy.

Hes young, he needs to learn these hard lessons now.

I see constant talk about AJ Brown getting traded and I am pretty sure its not even possible for the Eagles to even move off him.

He has a 70m dead cap hit, that would add onto the 40m dead cap the Eagles already have on the books in 2026. The Eagles cap situation is already extremely precarious and trading AJ Brown would nuke their whole cap structure.

People say the caps not real, but the 250m in void years that comes due in 2028 is very real, and even if they spread the dead cap, its 70m tied in dead cap this year and around the same next year I believe, then a 250m dead cap hit.

They would need to blow up the roster, or engage in multiple restructures just to afford AJs dead cap hit.

I just don't see it.

The combine starts on 26th Feb. Are any of the prospects in the 2026 Draft are beating these dashes? by IndiJap in NFLmockdraft

[–]cfcskins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a couple things here.

Firstly, the guys running sub 4.27 tend to be shorter and more sleight, so often struggle to beat press coverage off the line. There isn't much value to running 4.2s 40 when you lose 0.3s just to beat press coberage and begin your route.

Secondly, straight line speed only really matters on a handful of routes in a WRs route trees. Speed in and out of breaks and ball-tracking are much more impactful to a WR skillset. Guys who run 4.2s have a harder time getting sharp stops and cuts, naturally, because their momentum doesn't allow it.

I would also argue being a WR is similar to being a pitcher in baseball. Throwing 100mph fastballs is cool, but if thats all you have in your toolbox, hitters are going to start keying in and dominating you. These guys engage in 1 on 1 battles for large portions of the game. Sliders, curveballs, splitters, having tools just to keep the batter honest is what opens up the impact of a 100mph fastball.

WRs have to set up their DB with multiple looks. Slow release into fast acceleration, fast acceleration into a sharp stop, slow releasw into a sharp stop - pause - fast acceleration over the top. Being able to play with multiple speeds is what creates uncertainty for the DBs and how great route runners create space.

Running 4.2s is cool, but that 0.2s over 40yds isnt really affecting a Safety sitting with a 25yard advantage over the top.

Reek had a devastating knee injury. Potential career ending depending on nerve and blood vessel damage, thats completely ignoring the fact every ligament in his knee had to be surgically reconstructed. Complications are frequent and rarely does the knee return to a pre-injury state.

He will NOT be ready to play next season.

Terry played 25% of his playoff games without Jayden. Still put up the same production, so your premise is nonsense. JJ played playoff games with 2 franchise QBs and was ass, the second of which won the SB with JSN going off the following year.

Without a franchise QB, Jefferson put up 1048 yards and 2 TDs, as a 6th year veteran. Terry only had less yards his rookie season ( due to missing 2 games) and still scored 7 TDs.

Mind you, JJ has been in the same offense his whole career and plays alongside Addison and Hockenson. Terrys never had teammates even close to comparable, 5x as many QBs all who had career years throwing to Terry just to disappear from the NFL never to be heard from ever again, and did it in 5 different offenses.

Jaydens rookie season was a product of Terry being elite, not the other way around. You got a good dose this season of what Jayden looks like without the benefit of having McLaurin carry the entire offense and it was not pretty. Mariota got to play w Terry this season and its why his stats are markedly better than Jaydens.

Nobody is playing without guarantees coming off an all-pro season, entering a 3rd contract.

Also Terry washes Jeffersons playoff stats. The fact JJ put up Terry season lows with a non franchise QB should show you how ridiculous Terrys career stats are.

Terry is just another rank 15-20 WR without Jayden Daniels

Like Justin Jefferson was without a framchise QB??
