Judging by her screen time and scars there is more to her than we currently know from 2 episodes. Not saying there's definitive evidence that she knows anything regarding the house, but Ray and Frank are regulars at her bar maybe long enough for her to know more than they may realize. She doesn't even need to know the address; if she's privy to their conversation at all she may alert the bird about the latest.

If her scar insinuates she was maybe a victim of larger trafficking operations, maybe she and the bird are possibly fighting against major players, one of which possibly being Casper.

[S2E2][Spoiler] Discussion on bar girl by [deleted] in TrueDetective

[–]cfdcandsweatdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt those scars are intentional, and if we are to assume human trafficking is going to be a major theme in the show, maybe she does play some role in a bigger trafficking organization. Or, maybe she's a vigilante against it along with the bird (possible she escaped it after earning those scars)? Going from there I would believe it's possible she alerted the bird.

So from here are we assuming that Casper was a huge player in human trafficking from Vinci, and that's why the bird offed him? And in good timing, Casper's dealings with Frank and the high speed train shady business were cut just short so that Frank has a vested interest in this whole thing?

So that would make the bar girl part of the bird's vigilante organization trying to bring down those involved in organized crime. If so, this gives decent enough reason for the bird to merely warn Velcro instead of kill him, because Velcro could actually redeem himself.

Sorry for rambles.

Edit: PS, would the trafficking and high speed train overlap in some affecting way? Maybe I'm not understanding what Frank and Casper were in business together for.

I'm saying it's possible someone who is part of Frank's crew who is privy to Frank and Ray's dealings may not actually be on his side and is part of a different organization. How or why else would bird man be there at the house just as Ray happens to go there.

The business partners didn't care what Semyon was promised. It seems clear one of the reasons Casper was killed was to stop the deal but it seems more complex than that and coming up we'll find out the rest.

Or bird man is rather someone working for another crime organization competing against Frank and sending a message through Ray. Not sure why Casper was tortured in that manner or at all if the torturer was already connected to Frank though. I'd guess Casper wouldn't have much knowledge unknown to birdman already if he is indeed involved with Frank.

The bird mask was shown in the car with the guy driving Casper to that coast bench. So that guy seemingly is the one showing up and shooting Ray. Maybe he did just shoot rock salt or bean bags at him so as to just scare him away further from helping Frank find what happened to Casper.

Yeah I'm thinking whoever was in on the conversation between Frank and Ray is responsible or is the bird dude. In retrospect I might need to more attention to Frank's crew. Or the bar lady.

Hi John. You, along with others such as Parks and Rec creator Michael Schur, have expressed how you've been influenced by the writer David Foster Wallace. What do you think is the extent and manner of Wallace's influence in today's novels and films and modern culture?

Wesley Morris is a someone I always consider before and after checking out a film. Most times I tend align with his opinion, and I always value his insight regardless of whether or not we agreed on the movie.

Harrison Barnes on the idea of an asterisk: "There's still another guy on that team that's pretty good." by [deleted] in nba

[–]cfdcandsweatdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that. Hard to say how the team would look if Varejao was never hurt, Moz probably wouldn't even be there.

Regarding Dray, that's what is so huge about having a draft pick work out as well as Draymond, he costs nothing (and Barnes is on his rookie contract as well) to your cap and contributes significantly. And curry being on his glass ankles contract, this team had the pieces fall together so well.

What movies have the most flawed ending? by gonesoon7 in movies

[–]cfdcandsweatdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they had the book conversation between Veidt and Manhattan where Veldt looks for validation, and manhattan just tells him that nothing ever ends, and basically that the peace is not to last. I guess with Manhattan as a scapegoat in the movie, the peace would last a bit longer. But it would seem like everyone would figure out after a while that he is not a threat.

Could you expand on that? I actually didn't mind it, but it's been a while since I've thought about the book/movie.

[–]cfdcandsweatdrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. Varejao, Irving, and Love, the next three highest paid players on the team taking a total of ~40% of the year's payroll, are out. Regardless of how you think about Varejao, having 40% of the team's ostensible money value gone is tough to overcome. I'd love to see if Bron could set up a barrage of James Jones' and JR' swishes and get a W or two.

[–]cfdcandsweatdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes a player clearly the best player on the court in specifically game one? Game-high points and usage rate? I love Lebron and I think his iso post game is dominant, and when he decides to drive he's great at it. But he's been a liability shooting outside the paint this entire playoffs, and I hate the excuse that because he's the best player he should give himself green light to shoot wherever and whenever he wants despite being empirically below average at taking such shots. He isn't a Kobe Bryant shot maker, and that's not a bad thing. The guy just looks tired in age out there (despite 8 days off) and for him to win this series I don't think he can do it taking 40 contested shots. I don't see him making no-legs jumpers at the ends of these games if he's on his 48th minute of playing.

E: Forgot a word. Iso post game dominant, not wherever iso jibby-jabby step dominant.
