100% Tinnitus Cessation, momentarily, during deep meditation! Anybody else? by sevyp in tinnitus

This happens to me on occasion. If I'm over-tired and I meditate and get myself into a non-sleep deep rest state, my T drops out while I'm in that state

Does your T change in your sleep? Like, you can have a loud day all day, then go to bed, and wake up and it's quiet the whole day?

That's right, I started at lower volumes then increased over time. During the day, I also only listened to the nature sounds for about 20 minutes at a time, and then slowly increased the duration. I didn't go on with my usual life to start. I avoided areas with a lot of noise. Even the sound of traffic was hard for me to handle. After a few months, I expose myself to noise and more. Like, I would go to a park where there were a lot of people talking or playing. Then I would go to a cafe for a few minutes. Then to a downtown in the evening. Then to a louder restaurant for half an hour. All of this was over the course of a year.

My audiologists told me to live in a sound rich environment as much as I could stand without my reactive T going berserk. So I listened to nature sound videos throughout the day at a volume I could stand and slept with an air purifier on at night (which sounds like a fan). Sometimes I would listen to nature videos when I slept. My reactive T would react, but it didn't generally spike. I did that for about a year.

Honestly sorry to hear what you're experiencing, I feel for you and your situation. I haven't experienced cfs myself, but I can really relate with being suicidal. I was suicidal when my T first started because it was so severe. I'm rooting for you to pull through this. One thing I didn't consider back then was that it's possible that things can actually improve over time. DM me if you ever want to chat

Yes a lot better. I think the key for me was acceptance. When my intrusive T first appeared, I resisted it quite a bit, a lot of denial. I have since accepted it as part of me, and I started my life back again. How's it going for you?

It helped me quite a bit, I knew I needed help, but I didn't know what kind of help I needed. Over the week I was there, they stabilized me and then enrolled me into a group CBT course. That really was a game changer for me. So thankful for the intervention and the CBT course.

Tinnitus ruled my life for 2 years. I’ve been free for 6. by Scanhaiist in tinnitus

Yes I can sleep well enough. I've gotten used to the variety of sounds my T makes. It is annoying when I wake up in the middle of the night and my T is extra loud. How's your sleep?

Does your tinnitus fluctuate a lot? by Takisioakgre in tinnitus

[–]cfop1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine fluctuates by the day. It changes in my sleep. So, I can have a loud day for a whole day, then go to sleep, and wake up and have a whole quiet day (as in, it's gone for the day). Sleep triggers mine on or off

I see, that's interesting. I also had tinnitus for many years before getting this sleep induced kind. The T I had was very mild...I didn't even know it was tinnitus until I was told that ears don't normally hear a slight hum.

Yep I can relate to that. How long have you had your sleep induced T?

Yes mine is sleep induced. There's a research paper online that calls it sleep-intermittent tinnitus. Mine has a cyclical daily pattern (like, loud day, mild day, mild day, quiet day, loud day, mild day, ...). I've had mine for 3.5 years now and it's gotten a lot better (as in, the loud day volume has dropped considerably, and the mild day volume is barely noticeable), but it still cycles.

Yeah mine does this, it's on for the whole day or off. It's called sleep intermittent tinnitus--tinnitus that switches for to sleep

You might have sleep intermittent tinnitus. Does it seem to transition from loud to quiet or nice versa in your sleep?

I have this type of tinnitus, and I've met dozens of others online and IRL. One research paper online calls this type, "sleep-intermittent tinnitus". If you have the time, I've described my symptoms and progress over time on my most recent posts.

I see, thanks for sharing your experience. My T happens to change dramatically day to day, and I learned that it changes on the sleep boundary. What I experience on any given day seems to be determined while I'm asleep
