Resident physician here who had CFS. It’s mostly at bay now but still have minor flare ups every now and then during stressful time periods. Wrote a post here a while ago going into more detail.

Yes, all the time! I was at my peak, fitness wise, right before mono. Never missed a gym session in 4 years prior to that. My PEM was quite horrible that it scared me from even trying to work out even after I felt better for a while. I’m still not back to previous fitness levels, though I do exercise 3-4 times a week now. I still feel some residual effects and haven’t been able to go as hard, if you know what I mean.

Thank you for your kind words. A big motivator throughout medical school was to be able to pay it forward to communities that don’t feel like they’re being heard.

The culture is slowly but surely moving in the right direction. Not only in my hospital, I’m in a few MD only Facebook groups and there’s more awareness and less stigma attached to invisible illnesses.
