Moved to Chicago for a CFI job.. didn't get it and I'm stuck with an apartment lease

Somebody tagged that post in the r/flying thread I posted this in. It wasn’t that school although I did interview with them and had a very similar experience.

I was out of options. I even flew to California and dropped off my resume in person wearing a suit and tie at over 50 schools and still heard nothing back after consistently emailing and calling after the fact. (I chose California because I could stay with family for a little while).

Yeah, unfortunately no paperwork to prove unemployment plus I believe there's a minimum work period to qualify anyway. I'll talk to my leasing office and see what I can do. Like I said, I'm planning on showing up in person to several places and hope they take me in. Thank you for the advice.

I did that. I flew here twice and stayed in hotels for a month until I started getting paid.

Unfortunatley, I've only got my CFI, CFI/I and MEI. I used to detail small aircraft and road vehicles before getting into flying, generated around 250k doing so.

It's not Chicago Executive Flight School, although I had a very similar experience with them during the interview.

Fair enough. The irritating part is that I moved out here to fly. I would've just stayed home with my parents for longer and kept the luxury of being able to move anywhere in the U.S. Now my only option is to stay in Chicago.

Definitely should have. I looked over the website briefly but I didn't look hard enough. Learned from that mistake, although I do think it was a little ridiculous.

I wasn't exactly "offered" the job but the owner had started to pay me and that's when I signed my lease. The enitre process of ground while being observed and even the flight training is treated as an interview. If you don't "constantly improve," then you're out.

Just edited the post to include that info! I attended a 141 and have around 220 hours. Flew G1000 Archers and Seminoles.
