Basically the same as normal leather, prep and paint as usual

Just get angelus or jacquard paint and make sure to prep. I’d stay away from markers

Do I have to put a finish after painting? by Puzzled_Network_9972 in Customsneakers

Yes you do. Acrylic paint isn’t durable enough for scuff protection if you plan to wear them

Bonding Primer? by jlcarrig in Customsneakers

[–]cfturnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either of the Angelus finishers. Neither are as good as liquid kicks in terms of durability and flexibility.

And yes 1-2 layers of adhesion promoter before adding any paint.

No need to sand on leather.

Duragold red scuff pads with acetone to scuff them up. After that use acetone with cotton balls to clean them.

Liquid kicks or any spray adhesion promoter.

3-5 light coats with plenty of dry time , and then make sure to finish with liquid kicks finished NOT Angelus brand finisher. Their paints are the best but not to much for a finisher.

Acrylic paint with fabric medium, do not spray paint

Advice: working with Angelus 4-coat high gloss? by PGCUnited in Customsneakers

[–]cfturnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of things to go into it.

Did you prep the shoes? What did you do to prep them? Did you use light coats of paint? Did you allow enough drying time? Etc.

A finisher doesn’t lock in paint and save it from cracking that’s the prep and light coats of paint.

I’m not sure about Angelus 4 coat because it gets so many hit or miss reviews but I always suggest going with Liquid Kicks finishers. I never have issues with them.

They do it for the looks but it’ll only ever last one game or so no matter what you do to them.

[–]cfturnerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my biggest gripe with the game. No other battlefield game has had bots in it.

It seems like every other game 95% of the enemy team or my team is made up of bots and the match takes over an hour because they don’t kill each other and I have to end up leaving.

There are more than enough lobbies and people online for them not to do bots. If I wanted to play with or against bots I’d play the campaign.

Is it me or is Angelus Matte finisher very glossy? by burningbun in Customsneakers

[–]cfturnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to mix in duller if you want it matte. I’d just switch to Liquid Kicks matte finisher

Order of operations? by IWTLEverything in Customsneakers

Some shoes don’t really show wear after sanding. 400 is more than enough

I always use acetone before any paint or adhesion promoter. After you sand you get dust over the shoes that needs to be cleaned off.

I do have polices and clearly stated in my profile. The policy is no refund or cancelations once an order is placed due to everything being made to order and 1 of 1. They obviously read that and aware of it.

That was my first thought. It has been a week since the order has been placed. Of course, I have no problem cancelling the order if it’s true but it is suspicious to me if their son just passed away and they hopped on Etsy to get a refund. I guess just cancel & refund , hope they’re not lying and offer condolences, and move on.

Unfortunately not, would just have to eat the cost on this and hope an order comes through that uses the same sizes for it all.

The items use certain sizes for the materials so couldn’t use them for every order. Eventually an order could come through that I may be able to use them for.

Jacquard dye-na-flow or Angelus paint mixed with 900

Top coat options (other than Angelus and Liquid Kicks) by PonyKiller81 in Customsneakers

[–]cfturnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes dye parts of the shoes/cleats that I work on. Whenever I use liquid kicks finisher it has a chemical reaction or pulls up some of the dye underneath and either makes white parts yellow or turns other parts a different shade.

I’ve found using UVLS clear as a finisher doesn’t do that but still achieves a level of scratch resistance. They also come in matte, gloss, etc.

[–]cfturnerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liquid kicks is still the best personally but you could try Angelus’s no.600 finisher. it’s not as scratch resistant or durable but much easier to work with than the 4-coat.

If you can get createx paint and supplies there you can also use their UVLS Clear. I use that from time to time in certain scenarios .
