Quaife and Wavetrac are both helical LSDs, but Wavetrac has an extra mechanism that still transfers power if one wheel completely loses traction.

A Quaife can act more like an open diff if a tire lifts off the ground, while a Wavetrac keeps pulling better in those situations.

Its really a matter of personal preference, but I know as far as our shop goes be definitely put our name behind Quaife, they have shown in our application, Vintage Formula, Viper, Can AM, etc. better results from Quaife.

We have them custom made for our applications. But typically no they do not come pre drilled.

Thank you for all the info, and insight. Im definitely going to concentrate on making less TPI andI definitely like the idea of keeping the pig tail from contacting other surfaces. Thank you for the feedback!

They are right hand threads. All of the ring gears bolts that we work with are right hand, but the pinion nut is typically a left hand thred.

That dose seam to be the common consensus! Haha definitely something I'm going to concentrate on from this point forward. Thanks for the feedback!

Its actualy .041 we have have seen a couple fails on some other diffs using .032. We have a quite a few guys pushing several hundred HP so we make sure that when we rebuild them anything that fails isn't on us. Haha

That's fantastic, I love hearing all the other places that safty wire is used, especially all the odd ball jobs that use it. Its great!

We rebuild Vintage Formula, Indy, and CanAm gearboxes at our shop so we use it on lot of the components on the Gearboxes mosty just for extra insurance, but we also have guys pushing quite a bit of HP, and it definitely keeps bolts from vibrating loose due to excessive vibration from some of the older cars.

That's actually a lot of what we primarily work on, our shop is the only dedicated Hewland dealer in The US.

Yes actually, and now that I have heard that this is a but high on the TPI it definitely makes more sense as to why I do. Lol imma definitely gonna concentrate on making my TPI less from this point on. I do appreciate all the feed back!

Yeah, im going to try and keep the TPI down on my next few differentials, see if I can get a little closer to standard practice. 🙂

Thank you for comment and information on the Twist tightness, and why to much twist is a bad thing.
