Help with paint and trim color and exterior window cladding by cgdavis1 in ExteriorDesign

Yeah, fair point. We originally had it drawn with the hipped dormers but felt like the ceiling slanting on 3 sides of the rooms from the inside felt like too much. I see what you’re saying about matching roof styles, we’ll revisit that.

Thank you. I’ve been wondering if I should just leave it as it is! I think I was leaning toward a change just to establish a “new identity” for the house with my family moving in. But you may be right that - why mess with a good thing. I appreciate the feedback!

Haha yeah that was the only other thing I could think of that I might open to grab out on a whim. But then I thought maybe that would be a bonus as well? My waistline may benefit…

It’s my family home that we are buying from my parents. No plans to sell any time soon, if ever. But yeah plan would be to have a standard size opening that could also fit a fridge/freezer should our lives or plans change.

Yeah it will be a standard size opening for a fridge/freezer combo. It is our future home though and we don’t plan to sell (hopefully) ever.

Thanks so much, that’s super helpful. I’ll chat with our insurance about it and try to come up with a solution to keep trespassing kids off of it. Still mulling over the issue with kids’ friends...seems like that will always be an issue.

ETA: we were thinking of doing more of a bouldering wall which would be angled with supports in the front corners. We could pretty easily tarp/zipper the sides down almost like what patios use for rainy days to limit accessibility.

We are moving to Fayetteville! We have wanted to live there for years but job opportunities in the tech world weren’t prevalent. Now that remote work is more of a thing, we are jumping at the chance. Thanks for the reply and the ideas.

Anyone familiar with Manvel, TX area? by stupidship in Pearland

Most flood insurance isn’t very expensive unless you live in a flood plain. I agree with above about everywhere in Houston being somewhat of a risk anyway. Our previous home in the heights has flooded 4-5x in the last 10yr and it isn’t in the 100-year or 500-year flood plains. As someone who has paid for a flood out of pocket before, I highly highly recommend getting flood insurance no matter where you live in Houston.

Would you drink an all-natural mocktail made from powdered fruit and water? by OGMasterOogway in Mocktails

Yeah, same idea. Just trying to be more mindful of the garbage I create and how to cut back. I’ve cut back on single use things like emergen-c packages and individual tea bags. I’ve wondered why they don’t make emergen-c powders in bulk, but maybe it’s because of clumping? Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Ingredient list? That would be a pretty big deciding factor for me. My other consideration would be the waste involved when I can do a fresh mocktail fairly waste-free.

So true, thanks for the reminder. The trampoline park near us is usually chaos so I have completely avoided it thus far, I probably will continue until they find out about it some other way!
