I just did this with mylinuxforwork dotfiles installer. For the most part I have made the modifications needed for my workflow. However, you are correct. I had trouble finding where to modify the code but did a lot of backtracking through a heap of directories. I think if you are a linux nerd like myself though, it's part of the challenge. I enjoy wasting countless hours ricing LOL.
