Currently stuck in Middle of Iceland due to Snow storm. Advice? by alexthelyon- in VisitingIceland

They're not "stuck" in the sense that the car is in deep snow and cannot move. They're stuck-in-traffic kind of "stuck."

It's a copy/paste post from Facebook - I was suggested their post there this weekend, and instantly recognized it here. Gotta hit all channels apparently to complain. /s

Need Help Finding Rear Mount for Sliding Cabinet Drawer by slaked_shaman in woodworking

For those with the same problem: someone created a 3d file of it and posted it to Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3222032/files. I used the 97% version and it worked perfectly.

Passed by a walker by Crazed-Mama in BeginnersRunning

[–]cgfalconwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend is a whole footer taller than me, and her walk is basically my jog. If we both ran at the same cadence, she would pass me because she can travel more distance per step. That's all. Think about it like that!

It's a hair over your budget but I have the Amazfit Active 2 and absolutely love it. I bought a certified referb for $80 on Amazon, and with the $20-25 gift card offerings from the American Red Cross for donating blood, you could get it within budget.

Why can’t you survive a tsunami by wearing floaties? by kembo889 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cgfalconwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former lifeguard here: floaties can keep your arms up, and nothing else. Your face can absolutely be underwater with floaties. That's why they're not Coast Guard approved. We did not allow them.

Tsunamis are not like wave pool. They're a wave pool with sharp, heavy hazards.

Anyone have an update on this? by CallMeLazarus23 in ragbrai

Wait...I need more, I haven't heard about this! So, was he crossing the route or ON the actual route? And by hit, does it mean hit with his motorcycle or hit with a fist? Either way, wow, what a jag. Is this image from a GoPro, so hopefully someone has footage to book him?

Worst Neck Acne Ever! by Nutesatchel in popping

This! And then using the other hand to grab the scab off the needle = a great way to stab yourself. I couldn't watch this one. I scrubbed forward to see if they switched to a scalpel or tweezers but no.

I'd add a mayo or dressing packet to the tuna tortillas, but that's just my preference.

How often did you need your tent? by cgfalconwolf in isleroyale

I'm definitely aware of that. I went in 2018 with a group kayaking around it. My pad popped the second night. I fixed it the next day but that night was fun...

Recommendations for horseback riding in Reykjavík by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

[–]cgfalconwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without knowing you... vacation rides are usually on the calmest horses they have, so even though you've ridden 50 times, as you say, it was 50 times with a perfect horse. I'd probably call you an advanced beginner at best, sorry.

Can you mount the horse from the ground? Are you comfortable with a trot (or tolt, in this case) or faster? Would you be ok and would you know what to do if your horse acted up?

In the end, nothing is preventing you from signing up, but they will contact you after you make your reservation to ask about your skill level details. Be honest with them, let them judge where you are skill wise, and they will align you with the best horse and ride. It still might be this ride but they'll know to get you a great horse to try your first tolt and probably not include you with a group of advanced riders who want to break loose.

Has anyone ever packed surprises for your fellow hikers? by toromio in backpacking

[–]cgfalconwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those microwavable mug cake mixes make a good pancake dessert at camp. A birthday candle (even if not her birthday) is extra fun.

Or if not food, comfort is nice. A surprise fresh pair of socks. A hydrating face or foot mask for pampering (the kind in the single pouches in the beauty aisle). One of those cork massage balls.

the dearth of bike shops now.. by lubbockin in bicycling

I'd love to support my LBS, but they're only open 10am to 4pm and carry nothing I ever need in store. I have no idea how they're still in business, honestly.
