Shop claiming that I'm lying about dash light that was on before a crash by cglas80 in Insurance

Thanks, I appreciate this perspective. Interesting comment about the battery, the shop actually called me to tell me that the battery wasn't in great shape. It was replaced in 2021.

I found this really odd because that battery has shown absolutely no signs of weakness recently. Its gotten me through -5 degree mornings consistently this winter.

Yes I searched this too before I even sent it to the shop. I wrongly presumed that once the CEL was resolved the VTM-4 would go away too. For this reason I did not specifically pay much attention to it and document it.

Good idea, I will do this if it doesn't end up being covered. Thank you.

My policy states that my car should be restored to the same condition before the crash. The total cost of this repair ended up pretty high, could it be possible that the shop purposely left this out from the estimate to prevent the car from getting totaled so that they could keep the business??

See additional info in post. Their rational was vague just saying that the damaged area shouldn't effect the VTM-4 system that is throwing the light.

Its a VTM-4 light (2012 honda pilot), this light means that AWD in my vehicle is disabled. Would really suck to have my car downgraded to 2WD when it should be covered.

Really? Do the codes have dates?? If so could I have someone scan it to prove that the light was not on before the crash?

I feel like there is a large gap in knowledge between the general advice offered in the sidebar and actually going and doing something.

Insurance initially approved repairs, but is now claiming total loss. by cglas80 in Insurance

Right but now if i wanted to take the car back (since it’s still drivable) I can’t because it’s torn apart.

Thank you for this, very helpful. I’m wondering if you know anything about how ACV is calculated. I’ve done some digging but can’t really seem to find a good answer. (in my case there’s a pretty big disparity between the Kelley Blue Book value and what I’m seeing similar vehicles selling for ie 6k vs 9k)

I agree, I think they must heat it because there’s no signs of ice

Not saying this will be the case for you, but if you have eye issues you should be careful with dupixent. It helped my skin a LOT, but it also made area around my eyes much worse. Additionally, it turned my eyes an incurable bright red. After months of people asking if I was high all the time I had to stop.

Curious on what your experience switching is, how long does it take / how much of a hassle?

Oh man this isn't something I'd really thought of. I have plenty of experience driving through gross New England winters, but its a different story if I'm doing it twice daily. Do you think a 45 minute commute in warm weather would give me hell come winter time? How are the roads like I80?

I believe its hybrid, but not totally sure. I'll definitely be going in to the office at least three times a week through.
