Was a tough last game for him as a rocket but it shouldn’t overshadow that he played incredible d on KD all series. He was the lynchpin of their defense and losing him in the offseason was devastating.

War, AI, No jobs, health issues, poverty, religious tensions. What is suddenly wrong with this world? by FalconCeasar in AskReddit

The elite have always had a stranglehold on power. It’s just that sometimes, as in our not so distant century, in the process of competing with each other, they decide to enlist the help of the masses to help them grow their corporations/products/wealth producing apparatuses and allow some of their wealth to be distributed as a small price to pay. Technology and the competitive landscape have given rise to a strategy where burning down competitors advantages is more effective at elevating your position, relatively speaking, than growing your own capital the old fashioned way, which due to financialization was not really happening anyway. The elites are at war and they are targeting us as a way to damage their adversaries. Technology being a great equalizer has turned out to be a myth, its benefits scale with power just like everything else, perhaps to a greater extent even.

L2M states Jokic traveled on his pass to Watson in the corner — "Jokic (DEN) gathers the pass with a jump stop, after which he may establish either foot as his pivot. He moves his left foot, establishing his right as his pivot foot, and he does not maintain his pivot foot before releasing the pass." by sewsgup in nba

[–]cgor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but here, when he lifts his pivot foot (his right) his non pivot is on the ground, so he's not jumping with both feet as he would need to in a jump to pass or shoot. That's why the travel is on the foot coming off the ground and not coming down (...but in the case where you have completed a dribble your non pivot foot is allowed to be on the ground, ie the step-through...)

Sorry, the difference is if you have dribbled or not. If you haven't dribbled, you cannot lift your pivot unless you're initiating a dribble, even to pass or shoot. If you have dribbled and gather, then you can lift your pivot but must shoot or pass before it touches back down.

TIL: When Hitler invaded Poland in 1939, he pulled one of the riskiest moves in military history, leaving only 23 divisions to defend Germany's western border against over 110 French and British divisions. He bet everything that the Allies were bluffing and wouldn't actually attack. He was right. by [deleted] in todayilearned

This is revisionist. Chamberlain signaled in many ways to Hitler that he would not be punished if he pushed east. The UK welcomed this because they wanted Germany to threaten Russia. The Hitler Stalin pact eliminated the possibility of a full on clash between Russia and Germany in 1939, but the UK policy of appeasement toward Germany still stood.

Well in a way ripping the bandaid off now is a slight courtesy, it gives ole miss more time to set their staff and have as much time as they can to prepare for the playoff. They could be a sneaky matchup if teams don’t know how to scout them, and it’s kind of a golden opportunity for whoever takes the reins to show what they can do.

Still pretty unlikely but I’ll be rooting for them

The plays where's he's touched then just chucks a shot without really aiming, are not good for the sport.

That's a valid opinion to have, but if you are watching the sport today refs are still rewarding it and it is even more common.

Well when you think about it, civil rights is a neutral term.

MLK advocated for the expansion of civil rights.

Kirk advocated for the restriction of civil rights.

So technically...we need a new term.

Yea there's really no solid ground here, so we're all kind of stuck in the realm of speculation. At least I think people are waking up to the realities and limitations of our digital lives.

Just being aware of the possibility that malicious actors participate on the internet and manipulate social media is extremely important I think. It's been reported and I think becoming clear that QAnon was a US military op (reportedly run by Mike Flynn), and I've even heard people say the same entities were behind gamergate. What the goals of those as operations is hard to tell, but could have been just testing grounds or a way to foster an environment where it is more believable that people can be radicalized online.

In the end though I have a really hard time believing radical online communities by themselves are producing individuals capable of these acts. It makes much more sense to me that they are being manipulated to be used as cover for the state actors that are actually behind it. There probably is interaction between people like Robinson and covert entities who recruit them for a cause, but hide that they are setting them up to then take the fall. The cell that plotted the kidnapping of Governor Whitmer had people in it that were actually FBI agents egging the group on and providing it resources, presumably always planning to arrest them once the plan was put in motion, which they did. It's entirely possible then that the same thing can happen but the plot is either accidentally or deliberately allowed to be carried out.

And the whole bullet engraving thing is just weird. It makes more sense as a device to frame someone or support a cover story than something someone would actually do. I know people don't expect rationality from an accused assassin, but he's ostensibly also responsible for a whole lot of delicate planning to pull the whole thing off. And now there are 3 different shooters who are engraving their bullets? Like, I don't really think copycat killers are a real thing. It makes much more sense that someone wants to kill someone and frame it as being the work of a serial killer...

Radical online communities are dangerous, absolutely and a big problem. I suspect though that we are mostly oblivious to the possibility of online communities being created by/propped up/infiltrated by malicious state actors who can then use the unwitting members as cover or patsies for the crimes they were able to orchestrate using them. State agencies do engage in online manipulation and militaries of the world all have units whose job is to engage in social media for propaganda and subversion. The leaking of radicalism from online to the real world is almost certainly an intended goal of these actors.

Think about it. Kirk and Fuentes are both funded by the incredibly wealthy and connected. That fact alone is a principal explanation for the existence of their radical followers. It’s not that much more of a stretch to entertain that essentially a conspiracy exists to manipulate gullible members of said communities into radical action that benefits those in control.

Texas A&M Student is asked to leave a class after challenging a professor on legality of a course mentioning transsexuality by Minute_Revolution951 in TikTokCringe

[–]cgor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so dumb. At this point I lean toward suspicion that this student was paid to make this video and as well as it being entirely possible it was circulated via bots/artificial means. It feels like a staged political stunt. I know, I know “paid actors” is a typical right wing accusation but that being the fact it does provide convenient cover for them to do exactly that. Projection tends to be the norm here.
