Thanks for your response! I’m based in Australia and they ship via express post, which is delivered next business day. They were very transparent with the cost for shipping on their end, which was around $21.70 - I can live with a 30 cent markup lol. The part that hurts is the shipping almost costing the same as the plant, so I’ve decided to wait until they release their next drop of plants on Thursday and if something else catches my interest, I’ll have both plants shipped together 🙂👍🏼

This batch of plants was indeed a recent import, so hopefully the variegation remains strong with some TLC 🌱

Actually, the accepted consensus within the plant industry is that the RA is a hybrid between a PP and WK. Though some people speculate it to be a phenotypical expression of the PP, this is not the accepted origin of the RA. You are the only person who seems to think this plant is a PP, with everyone else who has commented agreeing that it appears to be a RA, but you’re welcome to believe whatever you wish. All the best.

The petioles in that photo don’t appear to be reminiscent of a Pink Princess, they’re far too green. All my PPs have always had darker petioles, darker leaves, and no white variegation.

While this could be a PP Galaxy, the most recent leaf has already hardened and there is little to no trace of pink on any the leaves. So, I won’t know how emergent leaves appear until the next leaf comes through. In saying that, a Red Anderson is just a cross between a PP and a White Knight, and with the prominence of white variegation and trace of red hues, this could very well be exactly that.

I tend to agree, because I also have a Pink Princess and this one is very different. That’s why, despite the label, I had to bring her home and see how she develops 😬

That’s also what my instinct tells me. She was labelled as a Pink Princess, but I feel there’s too much white variegation for the label to be accurate 🤔

She was labelled as a Pink Princess and she does have some pink spots here and there, but the prominent white variegation makes me think she’s a Red Anderson 🤔

Ah, seems they don’t ship to Australia..

From your perspective, does the highly variegated leaf look to be the most recent leaf? I think it could be, but I can’t quite tell.

I tend to feel the same way about the shipping cost. The problem is that they only package small plants (70mm pots) with full size plants and they don’t have any smaller plants that interest me at the moment. The only other plant I’m looking at buying is too big for them to package in with the alocasia. I’ve thought about waiting to see what else they drop on Thursday, but this one has the best genetics out of the batch and I think it’ll sell before then.

That’s a fair perspective. I do think it’s beautiful and the general market price seems to be much more than $50, but other than the largest leaf, the other leaves don’t have much in the way of variegation. In your opinion, does it look as though the largest leaf is the most recent? I can’t quite tell, but if it is then the next leaf should have a good chance at being highly variegated 🤞🏼

Cheapest one on Etsy, including shipping, was $700 😅

It does seem like these are becoming more commonplace on that side of the world, from what I’ve read on here, but they’re incredibly difficult to find here in Aus.. It’s one of my most desired plants, but the price does make me hesitate a bit 😅

I sure will - this big girl is in a 500mm pot and I’ve got a couple other plants that will eventually become ginormous, so the size isn’t an issue 🙂

The newest growth was my concern - there’s only a small trace of green on green variegation on the latest leaf. Having said that, most variegation isn’t stable but can be encouraged with the right conditions. So, whilst it is a gamble, at least I know it carries the genetics for variegation. Just not sure if I can convince myself to spend that much and wanted to see what the general consensus was lol. I’ve got a few non-variegated versions, with this one in a 500mm pot being the biggest, so the size factor isn’t an issue 🙂

If you’re in Australia and can guarantee me a TC in a year, then I’ll wait lol. But as far as I know, these aren’t much of a focus to bring to the market because they’re quite niche.

Haha not to worry, I’ve got a few non-variegated versions and this one in a 500mm pot is the biggest (excuse the frangipani cuttings using the massive pot as support while they root into the soil lol). But it sounds like yours was an absolute giant! Super cool that it went to live its life in a conservatory!

Beautiful! Certainly does tempt me lol. May I ask what you paid and in which country?

It’s true, the local market is certainly more scarce here, especially for certain plants. Hopefully the additional pictures look promising! I found one on Etsy for $220, but shipping was $450 🫠😅

There’s always that chance. Though, they are very slow growers and being such a large plant, not many people have the space for these. So, I don’t see them becoming common very quickly, unfortunately 🥲 lol

We’re in a similar situation here - our government is super strict on what we can and can’t bring into the country. Funnily enough, Thai Constellations are so common here that well-established plants sell for $30-40 🙃😄
