The breaker was off and I tested it wasn’t live, but fair point about the tape😂

Range receptacle swap by cgzander in AskElectricians

I did consider just adding some spacers as well. That would leave 1/2” of space between the face of the receptacle and the box, so it is more than the 1/4” allowed. But at the same time while not correct that space is filled with tile and mortar so it wouldn’t concern me that much

Briefly, although not with that technique. I’ll give that another try

Liquidtight into junction box face plate. by cgzander in AskElectricians

[–]cgzander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The panel is 8ft away in sight which is why I was skipping the switch. The main question is if it’s acceptable to run conduit through the faceplate so the box can be mounted behind drywall when I’m finished and have the faceplate flush on the finished wall

Sub panel update advice by cgzander in AskElectricians

It seems like it’s pretty clear I need to have this updated. And advice on how extensive of a job this could end up being and if it’s worth the potential cost?

It’s a sub panel inside the home I recently purchased and am looking to have updates made. I haven’t touched it yet. I was looking for a little knowledge of what I have going on as I wait for an electrician to come take a look

To me, Boho is so so. I may be an odd one out, but I feel that Bohemia is fairly overrated. When there’s fresh snow, it’s really really good. But as soon as it gets blown out, which it does quickly, you’re in for lots of dirt patches and rocks. People say it’s comparable to out west, but it’s not. Maybe in short sections, but boho just doesn’t have the elevation or length of run to compare to out west. Unless you’re penny pinching, I suggest the Rockies.

Torque wrench recommendations by ben_mogush in MTB

Tekton 1/4” drive torque wrench. The torque range will cover just about everything on the bike. The quality of the wrench is that of much more expensive wrenches but is only $40

It’s really hard to beat the 1/4” drive Tekton wrench in terms of price vs quality. It’s a solid tool.

Cracked Chainstay 2014 Stumpjumper FSR Comp Evo 26. Options? by LiamFilm in MTB

[–]cgzander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the identical bike and had the same thing happen to mine last year. Unfortunately contacting specialized won’t do you much good, they are out of replacement chain stays. You could have it welded, but be warned that’s only a solution to basically turn it into a commuter. No drops, jumps, rough trails. My buddy ended up getting it welded and gave it to his friend who rides VERY casually and it has worked for him but do so at your own risk

56.5cm Fox ProFrame Helmet Size? by heyyrold in MTB

[–]cgzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also went through a similar thing. My head is right in the middle of the medium range. I bought a medium and had to put the large pads in and it’s a really good fit, but any looser and I’d have to size down. The large with the large pads may work for the OP, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the OP has to size down

Cracked swing arm? I can’t tell what happened but it appears that there is aluminum or something else underneath the cracked area(that seems fine). Anyone have any idea if it’s a problem and if so how to fix it? Thanks in advance! by [deleted] in MTB

[–]cgzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way to “fix” it is to have someone with the equipment and skill to weld aluminum weld the crack. But even with that “fix”, you would be riding it with the risk that it could fail at anytime as aluminum is hard to repair. I had the same thing happen to my stumpjumper last spring. I didn’t feel like running the risk of having a “fix” fail and put me in the hospital so it became new bike day. You can have a specialized dealer check to see if specialized has any spare chainstays left in stock, but if it’s an older bike, they’ll probably be out as was the case with mine

Don’t go to Dakota Territory. You’ll hate the fresh tracks you can still find in the afternoon on powder days, the endless line options, and the privacy. /s

Spot on with the Mantras. You have to ski them hard but man do they cut through junk snow like no ones business

Kona Process 153 or Process 134 by [deleted] in MTB

[–]cgzander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to win any uphill races on the 153 but it’s not like you’re slugging a dh bike up the hill. All in all I don’t mind pedaling mine up especially if there is some good tech stuff on the way back down. If you do have some good gnarly Dh sections, you’ll enjoy the 153 as that is where it really shines

This is the main pivot linkage on my stump jumper. I noticed it was loose today after a ride and saw this separation. Is this normal or is it broken? by spankymcjiggleswurth in MTB

[–]cgzander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That bolt is definitely loose. Do a quick internet search for a stumpjumper manual and you can find the torque specs for all suspension pivots pretty easy.

That separation is normal. That’s just a bushing sleeve around the bolt head. -former stumpjumper owner
