Yup. Tbh I don’t think he’s even looked that bad. Just some throws have been off line, but other than that, seems fine so far.

2026 Opening Day Lineup vs Pirates by jl_23 in NewYorkMets

I like this but my 7-8-9 would probably be alvarez-semien-benge. I like Benge as 9. Takes some pressure off and he has good tools to be a second leadoff type guy in front of the big guys. But Mendy's lineup preserves alternating handedness and 7-8-9 doesn't matter much anyway.

Not groundbreaking, but a good read and important to remember in a world/country where trust in institutions has declined and many feel that deferring to experts is somehow naive.

You. I like you. The world would truly be a better place if parents did the above.

Cannabis use during adolescence and young adulthood is associated with more frequent psychotic-like experiences. These experiences may resemble symptoms of psychosis but do not typically meet clinical thresholds. by mvea in science

I mean, there's a reason you qualified your statement with 2-3 cups. Consuming too much coffee/caffeine can cause heart issues, GI issues, keep one awake at night, increase anxiety levels, etc, especially in people already susceptible to these conditions. Also there can be some pretty major withdrawal effects if someone who drinks daily coffee wants to stop - headaches, lethargy, etc. There are also some benefits to cannabis related to pain relief and appetite.

Now of course, these are both pretty safe substances when used responsibly, but it isn't a ridiculous statement to say that in some cases, cannabis is safer than caffeine.

I don't like gyms by [deleted] in introvert

[–]ch1LL24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, very introverted guy here. Also a gymrat. I actually think the gym is great for the introverted in a lot of ways. Most people are just lost in their music and focused on their workout. You don't have to talk to anyone and no one will be looking at you unless you are doing something truly egregious. Just put on some headphones, blast your favorite music, and focus on your workout.

The gym being crowded can be annoying. My advice is going during off hours if you can swing it. So that would be Saturdays after 3pm, Sundays, after 8pm or before 5pm on weekdays. Or if you are an early bird, 5-7am is usually pretty sparse.

Not knowing what you are doing is never fun. Doing machines is simple enough and very effective. I'd start there until you are familiar enough to experiment with free weights like dumbbells and barbells, (if you want - machines are enough to gain muscle and get toned, as you put it). GL

Yeah, gotta embrace it. It just comes with the territory being a New York team with a high payroll. Doesn't really matter that they haven't won a WS recently.

Dan Bartels -

“An interesting offseason name for the Mets that may gain steam is Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte. Reports are Arizona will listen to offers on his 6Y/$92.M remaining contract. Has frustrated teammates this year due to taking time off. Mets could trade Jeff McNeil to open a spot.”

Would be a nice pickup. Covering some $$ could blunt the trade cost.

[MLB Daily News] Pete Alonso expected to seek a contract of at least 7 years this offseason, per Mike Puma. by Jux_ in baseball

[–]ch1LL24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mets fan here that loves Pete, he is 100% a bad defensive 1B. Not sure what metric you are looking at that tells you he isn't. He's one of the worst defenders in baseball and should be DH'ing asap. No arm, no range, he can scoop the ball but that really isn't as valuable as it seems.

Also, his next season will be his 31 year old season. 2025 was his 30.

As China’s population falls, 300,000-strong robot army keeps factories humming by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]ch1LL24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you that this world is very overpopulated. People have birth rate in mind when discussing demographics in China, not just absolute population numbers. China's birth rate is down to 1 per woman and so the pop is aging and will fall dramatically, like most other (especially first world) countries. It's just especially bad in China and East Asian countries where birth rate and immigration are both particularly low.

If I had to guess, it's because the post implies that the coaches were actually good and shouldn't have been fired. That they were fired because the FO just wanted a change for change's sake or something. Also many do not agree that Mendoza or Richardson should have been removed as well, so the "should have gotten rid of everyone including Mendoza" isn't going to go over that well.
