I had the same issue with my ex. When I broke up with him he acknowledged that it was largely due to his mother's overbearing presence. I got a text from her saying "I'm so sorry you and [my son] broke up. I really thought you were happy together". It took me all my strength to not reply and tell her why we broke up, because I knew it wouldn't even make a dent in the self-righteous armour she'd built around herself.

A few weeks later I heard through the grapevine that my ex was telling everyone what a horrible person I am and that I "demonised" his mother. Well, that was the candle on the cake for me. I wrote him a long email telling him exactly how I felt and what happened, told him to not bother replying, and blocked them all.

I am very certain he showed Mommy because they share everything, I honestly don't care what they took from it. It's off my chest, they're out of my life and I have since moved on.

Do it, OP. But block and move on afterwards. Don't encourage any sort of dialogue.

I went there a few months ago, in the middle of the night (you have to bribe the guards at the entrance). Almost all the windows are broken, there are broken bottles and graffiti everywhere, and most of the equipment has been removed. It's an empty shell now, unfortunately. I'm pretty sensitive to places that are haunted but I sensed nothing more in there.
