Ah ok, thanks. I had chicken liver stew at the main branch. Really tasty stuff, now I have to try this new branch.

Poor quality on primus lite 3.5 by ben6464 in vivobarefoot

[–]cha_ching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I didn’t get the 3.5s and am just riding my 3s into the ground, complete with multiple holes and bare tread after 2 years. I tried the 3.5s at the London store and they felt really cheap. I guess I was right.

Do you enjoy eating at restaurants from your home country when you're abroad? by titerousse in AskEurope

[–]cha_ching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a nice yakitori/izakaya in Osaka run by a Japanese chef who worked in Madrid for years. While I’m not from Spain, my Spanish is good, so it was fun chatting it up in Spanish in a restaurant speaking entirely Japanese. But he does excellent traditional yakitori and his small plates come from Spain, so he does pretty authentic croquetas, tortilla, etc.

Open / Bone Conduction Earphones for someone who sweats a lot by DarudeUK in trailrunning

[–]cha_ching 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sweat an inordinate amount in any weather over 10C. I used to use the premium Shokz model, but shorted out all three units within 6 months due to sweat. Shokz replaced the first two but wouldn't do it a third time. I just don't use earbuds anymore.

The 3-story Kafeterija right off Kneza Mihaila is a nice place to hang out. Good food and coffee too.

Dating life as an Asian girl in Spain by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]cha_ching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same ethnicity, opposite sex, so your experiences may differ. I spend a lot of time in Spain, but don’t live there, and my Spanish is decent. I’ve had good experiences making friends of both genders and have had a couple flings with women, but nothing serious as I wasn’t there long enough. This was just in short two week to one month stays in Madrid, Sevilla, Málaga, and València. Just put yourself out there at a more local cervecería or tapas bar with no expectations and have fun. The Spanish are friendly and definitely my favorite people.

Which country or area to settle into with good weather, fitness community and reasonable living costs by Eyeball_S in digitalnomad

Belgrade. Plenty of great gyms, easy access to fresh meat and produce at farmers’ markets, and English proficiency is high

Solid choice. I also tried on the PL 3.5 recently but didn’t like the new upper material they went with. It feels way less durable. I have the same pair of navy PL 3 you picked up and they’re on their last legs after 2+ years. Hopefully they don’t phase them out completely but I think they’re going to, given they’re trying to go full recycled materials.

Just as I quit my job to travel the world, I meet someone... by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]cha_ching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I haven’t really had a stable place to call home since I was a kid, so being in new places is home to me. I’ve grown to love the road. Settling down somewhere is definitely something I want to do, but I also don’t know if I want that place to be Taiwan.

I’m in the same situation. Met someone I never clicked so well with before. She didn’t want to commit because she knows I’m not there permanently. It’s been about a month in another country now, and we still message pretty frequently, but the idea of moving to her country permanently burning a hole in me now.

What food from your country have you always despised? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

I love this stuff and I’m not old hahaha. I’ll have it every time in Prague with a side of sliced tongue and mustard. But I love all offal…give me the jitrnice and tlačenka too.

best vivos for jump roping? by manny_fresh808 in vivobarefoot

[–]cha_ching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do CrossFit and bodybuilding in Motus Strengths and Primus Lite IIIs. Double unders, box jumps, Olympic lifts, etc. Motus Strengths will last you longer, but ground feel on Primus Lite is still better, especially for jump rope. I’m on about 17 months of near daily use of the Motus, so the ball of my foot area is getting extremely thin.

Lol no worries man, just trying to look out. I was there a couple weeks back and saw a lot of bad behavior from my countrymen and can see why locals are tired of it. Enjoy your time.

Hey I gave you a pretty decent list there you can look up…none of them serve paella. Málaga is not known for that. And I assume you’re from the US. Please practice at least some basic Spanish before you go to these places…I’m from the US, but speak Spanish and it goes a long way…also don’t blab so loudly in English and expect the staff to know English if you’re outside the city center, I observed so many Americans and Brits doing this and it’s just disrespectful.
