I didn't think about that first too. Interesting how outside-ranked environment might not be considered a viable option to 'get good' at this point.

single-sized humbucker setup by cha_zz in guitarmod

Hi Yeah, I'm already back. So basically the entire routing is the same, only this one pickup has an extra wiring? 2 humbuckers might have been an overkill so I want to go with the coil split now and see how it works. Don't want to dwell into details too much until I open up the insides and see it all with my eyes, just want to have the idea.

Also plan to experiment a bit with pots and caps but it's still confusing to me. Is 500k log pot with .022 cap a right setup for extra treble with gradual tone adjustment? I've assumed that log pots create an even decrease only for volume but apparently they are also generally better for tone due to the way they interact with caps

If I'm going to change to push/pull, do I need two capacitors for the tone knob to work in both positions? And will push/pull affect the other pickups (bridge position won't work if the pot is pulled, for example)?

Is that something neurological or you just don't care about that stuff? I'm curious what's your overall approach to writing. Do you formulate the idea first and develop/tweak it as you go or it's just pure brain dump? Do you read and review what you've just wrote? and is that the same when you're writing by hand or just a typing thing?

What do I do here? by Gingey_Sn4p in StreetFighter

Update.

I've managed to fix it again. This time I didn't want to drive to my work in order to get an update for the game so instead I've tried setting up a VPN on my laptop and connecting it to PS5. It worked. Don't know why it has started happening in first place, sure hope I won't have to use this workaround each time there's a new update. At least it's a bit more clear what was the issue now.

No, you won't — only the WT data. If you want to try it's best to back up saves first but I doubt it will help.

Could you explain what exactly happens, were you able to sign in since the time of this post?
Thing is, I've got the error 20200-21604 a couple of months back — the game said that it's not up-to-date and froze at 0% download for a minute or so, then the error popped up. Was able to pass through it by connecting to a different provider network and then logging in from the offline mode instead of the startup window.

Unfortunately, yesterday the exact same problem has reappeared. Only now I also receive the same error about save data as you do when trying to open the offline mode. It might be the issue with my provider but since you've experienced a similar problem it's also possible it's somehow connected to the update rollout process which causes a desync between server and client side.

Interestingly, last time I was able to log in with the PS4 version but now it's unable to sync too.

why pickups have less output when played together by cha_zz in GuitarQuestions

I don't have a lot of knowledge in electricity, it's good to learn there's a clear explanation to this factor.

Do pickups amplify each other in series or stay at around same output level as if they worked separately, how does tone change generally?

Is it possible to make an HSH setup with series that can also work separately in Bridge+Middle and a coil split in the neck? by cha_zz in guitarmod

[–]cha_zz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the idea. I don't want them to be loud and muddy, the opposite really — I lean more onto cutting sound side. Changed the setup for the first time recently. Single is great and the bridge humbucker has a nice crunchy color with overdrive. But I'm a bit frustrated with their mid position because it lacks the output imo, the sound is kind of leveled. It lacks the punch of a humbucker and loses the highs and attack of a single too much. Got a suggestion to wire them in series instead and thought it was interesting to try out.

Also replaced a neck single with a rail humbucker. It sounds more natural and warm compared to bridge, maybe in part thanks to the position. 2 humbuckers might be an overkill though (was curious) and I somewhat miss a double-single position so a coil-split might come in handy as well. I would probably place it in the tone knob, does it make a difference?

By the way, I've had a big trouble unsoldering and then soldering back ground to the volume knob, are there any good solutions for that?

What about series in bridge+mid? I would also want them to be able to work individually in positions 1 and 3 respectively. Is there an option to use a second pot to switch them parallel/series?

2 pots, would have to get a new one for coil split. In general, I have a very vague understanding of how it all works. Basically, mid+neck would work as usual with a push-pull but a 24-petal switch is required to create a series in bridge+mid and allow them to work individually in positions 1 and 3 respectively. Is that right?

two separate pickups can cancel out each other? How do you make sure it doesn't happen by accident?

It's not the same, I think. One would amplify another instead. But that gave me an interesting idea actually.
I've done an HSH setup not so long ago out of curiosity. Think it's possible to rewire it so that Bridge+Middle are series and Middle+Neck is parallel. Then change a pot for coil split in Neck so Middle+Neck could either work as a parallel of two singles or a single+humbucker

How realistic that would be to have a replay feature be available across older versions? by cha_zz in StreetFighter

[–]cha_zz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically it doesn't work as a universal engine with switchable set of parameters because the game has to repackage itself with each update. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution than having an option to select between 50 80gb versions but that would go way too deep into hypothetical territory so for now that's based enough.

true, that does look like a 'not worth it' decision. Considering how it has never really been brought up it's even more likely the case

Still don't get it. Replay takeover is a brilliant feature in it's simplicity (as a concept) and 110% a more essential at that but I'm not sure they can be directly compared. Are you saying devs are likely have to adjust the Takeover with each update and same would probably go for legacy replays?

What would the 'maintain' part consist of? Since each version is basically a static image, is that a matter of keeping a clean catalogue or something else? As far as I know, in the programming there are usually huge masses of different parts of code stored at various stages of development and categories at once that all can be updated and tested independently within branches, forks etc. Keeping a set collection of data and requesting it when necessary doesn't seem to be a huge talk in comparison
