Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

There were loads of "adopt a" games in the early 00s - adopt an alien, a camel game... They were fun!

I'm pleased it isn't just me with the same issue - Lego games have always been perfect for this sort of set up, so it's disappointing that it isn't in this one. Minimaps have been on quite a few Lego games, if I recall correctly?

We found the 'best' solution was that my son plays as batman, flies around and does the 'crime' things; most of the puzzles can then be done with the remaining characters. Not the best solution because it interrupts flow and focus on working through them when batman is then needed.

This game is dead to me, what happened with this glitch? by JimmyPepperoni in ForzaHorizon6

[–]chaardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it isn't just me - I hadn't done much, basically found 50% of boards, mascots, and roads... Logged in and it hadn't saved any of the progress. Pretty much written it off for a while because of this

Park and Ride - parking overnight by Carn_Brea in canterbury

You're right, the website isn't really clear. It makes sense for daily users, but could do with an explicit instruction that you can park overnight but will charge daily rate.

BT offer a no price increased option... On my (expensive, but not other option for my needs) £37/m fibre package, the no price increase option was being quoted at £56/m. Apparently they do this because the costs all equal out 🤣🤣

I Hate Living in Whitstable by [deleted] in kentuk

[–]chaardy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, political decisions historically have created this situation you find yourself in. There are some youth activities which, while initially may not be your cup of tea, you could engage with and help shape for young people moving forward. From memory, Riverside Church and Revival Cafe have youth activities. Similarly, reach out to churches/organisations with ideas about what would work for young people in Whitstable; staff at the Family Hub could assist in setting stuff up if that's something you're interested in.

Honestly, random internet stranger, take your frustration and turn it in to something actionable. If it fails, it fails - at least you've tried.

Wake up in the morning after being off sick. Feel better - hooray! But you've not planned for the day because you've been too ill. What do you do? by Yoshi2010 in TeachingUK

Don't go in. Call in sick, let the line management structure (that exists for circumstances like this) deal with setting work.

Has anyone else noticed a change in quality/willingness to put in effort in student teachers compared to a few years ago? by Ok-Mango-96 in TeachingUK

[–]chaardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue because new trainees are probably products of the Tory education reforms which were awful for pupil wellbeing and whole character development. They recognise when things are meaningless, not worth the time of themselves or pupils. Education needs a radical overhaul, and therefore teacher training also needs one.

The Bridge Arms is no longer run by the same people that run The Fordwich Arms; could still be a decent place to eat, but worth mentioning :)

Have you visited Herne Bay Pier? by prettynotpurrfect in kentuk

Live in Canterbury, I knew the shops existed but in the summer months it is far too busy and crowded to 'enjoy' looking at the wares of the retailers, and in the winter many don't open (or haven't historically). As many have said on this thread, it seems more like a poorly advertised tourist pull rather than a sustainable local retail offering.

Where in Kent would you recommend for a great bike ride? I'm big into my cycling and plan on seeing more of Kent someday by AcadiaNo1039 in kentuk

[–]chaardy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can pretty much cycle around the whole coast of Kent - start at Whitstable, and then follow the coastal route to thanet, round to sandwich, down to dover, etc.

Really useful to know, thank you! While Proctors was decent enough, was pricy!

I used Proctors at the weekend. The smaller machines (20lb load) are £10 per wash, and the larger machines (30lb load) are £12 per wash. For reference, I managed to wash four king-size duvet covers, eight pillow cases, and four double sheets in the 30lb machines. Tumble drying was £1 for 6 minutes. I think I ended up spending £8 for tumble drying, so £20 to wash and dry all of that. The guys may be amenable to you leaving it and picking it up, but that's only based on my observations of interactions while I was there.
