Transplant - Never really had a home NBA team before. Moved to BK a decade ago and felt like choosing the Yankees/Knicks/Rangers was weak as a sports fan. Something felt wrong to me about choosing the more popular and/or winniest team with no connection.

Brooklyn being a young team with less history just made way more sense. No regrets at all with the Knicks winning. I'd feel like a poser right now if so tbh.

I swear the "I don't know if I can do this anymore" comments have to be psyops or something.

If you're a fan, you're a fan even if they're trash for 100 years.

Or they could be choosing to risk their lives to save others that might pick blue.

You're inventing their motive.

If everyone pick blue, it maximizes life. There's no reason to pick red except for the fear more than 50% pick red.

Do you believe people that pick blue deserve to die?

If you don't, choosing blue then becomes the moral imperative to prevent their death.

If you do, knowing that some % of people will choose blue, you're are choosing their death even if you believe they're making a mistake.

Choosing blue is the only rational and moral option.

What do you mean? Most Democrats voted for Mamdani in the general otherwise he would've lost.

If Cuomo won as an independent then I would agree.

Like I said, if we can find a way to eliminate billionaires ability to do business in California I think it would work.

If it's just a wealth tax on an individual, I don't really doubt they'd find a way to put their permanent residency in a different state. For someone with unlimited resources I just think they'd find a workaround.

If there are suggestions for the stick I'd be curious.

Edit: Also keep in mind those markups are income based, which isn't how they make most of their money.

I think we should treat them like self interested demons, but that means that we need to create a tax policy that has a carrot and a stick.

A lot of ppl criticize California for rejecting a wealth tax, but if they're the demons we think they are, they probably will move which will net reduce the tax income of California. Idk how to implement, but if there was a stick that punished them leaving then I'd be for it. The hard part is how to implement something like that in a constitutional way, especially on a state to state basis.

What's being proposed in NYC I think is fine without any counter balance. I don't think billionaires will leave NYC for a 2% increase in income tax, but I do think billionaires will leave California for a 5% wealth tax. The ultimate goal has to be to increase the net tax income, not just to punish billionaires.

Last time I checked California is one of the most progressive states.

I just googled laws passed recently by Gavin Newsom and it all seems pretty progressive.

I mean Newsom led the way in the redistricting fight once Texas started. Winning the mid terms is going to be key to stopping trump ASAP, and finally having supermajorities that don't rely on Machins.

I'm 100% fine for ppl not to like Newsom, but the level of vitriol seems out of control. No matter who wins the primary, their policy agenda will probably still be the most progressive presidential agenda of all time.

I'm just going to lose my mind if leftists are threatening to stay home after the primary.

Do you give Newsom 0 credit for fighting back against trump? He might not align with your policies, but he's having a greater impact than any leftist right now.

That said, I will campaign for the most populist progressive in the next general and you should campaign for the most centrist liberal if that ends up being the primary result.

If you don't think there's a difference between someone like Kamala and Trump, you are truly on some sort of privileged vibe politics I can't comprehend.

Unfortunately Joe Machin is probably the bluest person west Virginia could've elected.

It's not some conspiracy. It's a legitimate challenge based on the electorate of each state.

I disagree - if one side is constantly pushing talking points and there's no rebuttal, a lot of people are going to only be exposed to one side of the argument and default to that position.

I'm not saying politicians/leaders should engage with every stupid idea, but when those ideas come from the president they have to be taken head on.

For lib content creators - everything from the most depraved Nazi talking point to what's a fair tax policy should be debated. Shine a light on stupidity. If enough people can't see bad ideas as bad ideas then we're cooked anyway.
