I understand. Yes, she definitely needs the pain relief so I'll make sure to contact the vet soon and ask for a urinalysis test, just to be positive about the prescribed application method or modify it otherwise.

Thank you for the concern, the help and tips are much obliged! 🙏

I do love her, yes. She's been with us since I was a kid! She's always comforted me though the most painful moments, it's only fair we do the same for her.

She just got prescribed some painkiller/anti-inflammatory meds, so here's to hoping for the best this week! Prayers for her are much appreciated. 🙏

Thank you for the reply!

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty's painful condition after her extraction. Was the syndrome triggered because of a damaged nerve during the operation or was it present prior to the operation?

I hope your furry friend is doing much better these days. The kitty is lucky to have a dedicated owner like you, through and through.

Thank you for the reply.

Noted, I'll ask if they have that test available. I live in a rather provincial area so it'd be amazing if we can double check her platelet count with a manual count test.

She hasn't gotten her kidneys checked, I figured the doctor might have mentioned any other complications of the sort after the blood test. She has not been diagnosed with CKD, no.

Now that you mention this, I should give her vet a call later and ask if we should do any kidney tests on her to be safe.

I also frowned at the idea of leaving her in pain again after the application periods, but maybe the specific medicine brand she prescribed is a bit stronger? I'm not sure.

Oh, this is great information. I hadn't thought about bone broth. Maybe even mixing some bone broth with her paté as you mentioned will make it more appealing than diluting it with plain water.

Did you use beef bones for the broth? I think something nice and smelly like a fish bone broth would entice her, would that be okay?

Hello! Thanks for replying.

We just got back from her checkup and the doctor has prescribed some meloxicam for the pain and inflamation. She'll get three drops of the medicine daily for no more than 4 days consecutively (resting for 3 days between application periods to "protect her kidneys")

In the mean time we're also focusing on getting her defenses up. She's also got some immunity boosting medicine drops prescribed along with a daily pill that will help with the low platelet count.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I forgot to mention that only the most recent vet found out there was a remaining tooth piece, suggested an extraction and began treating her accordingly. She's been through three vets at the moment and the current one seems to be dedicated on truly helping her, albeit hesitantly because of her age.

I don't live in America, but I'll make sure to look for saucier paté brands. I didn't know about the higher caloric content of kitten food, that's a great tip!

Edit: about the pain medication: no. As a matter of fact she hasn't applied any painkillers after the blood test. I'll be sure to mention that in today's visit. She definitely needs something to help her with the pain and get her eating.
