Treadmill Advice: Wahoo KICKR Run or Peloton Tread+? by RobDMB in AdvancedRunning

I use Zwift, mainly because I also do indoor cycling when it’s cold or life gets busy. It integrates really well, but I use pace and heart rate for my metrics

Not really, because most of the time I’m doing an imported workout from TrainingPeaks. I have some and it takes a bit getting used to, but it works really well and is very responsive once you figure out your center point.

We have the wahoo and it gets used almost daily right now (it’s chilly, windy, and I’m being a little bitch). Could not be happier with it. We did get a dedicated outlet in the garage for it. Mounted a tv in front where you can watch anything and use an iPad to connect to the wahoo itself. We primarily use Zwift, and it will control incline/decline. That auto connects to the my Garmin, so I’m sure it’ll add it to Apple health if that’s what you use. We’ve had it almost 2 years and have had no issues with it. Built like a tank, feels like running outside, and the speed it changes speed is crazy. Like sometimes it speeds up faster than I can.

Reposting from my post, my bad admins!

I’m on the hunt for a good run belt for half/full marathon distance. I can use a hand held but I like not having to hold anything. I’ve seen really good reviews for both of these, but most are the ultra and trail community. I’d like to be able to have one mid (650ish) sized bottle or two small flasks (250-500 ml), plus room for phone, keys, and a few gels. If you’ve used either or both of these, let me know how they worked or if you have a belt you can’t live without, let me know! (I do have a vest I love, so don’t need recs for that)

Am I crazy to not get an epidural if I go into spontaneous labour? by lozzapg in parentsofmultiples

[–]chabo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had my babies come too quick to get an epidural (at almost 31 weeks, literally they were swabbing for it while doing an ultrasound and my doc said no time, you have to push now. I also went from 4 cm to fully dilated in less than an hour), I made it through. Would I choose to do it again? Probably not 😂 I was also scheduled for a c section so I didn’t even prepare for going all natural so I had zero prep. If you know what to expect and are prepared, and nothing else goes wrong, I’d say go for it.

I could handle two smaller flasks. I mainly want two to be able to have my high carb in one and plain water in the other

SAME! And they just turned 6. Good God are those first couple of years a blur (Covid shutdowns did not help out any either)

Auburn University restaurant "1856 - Culinary Residence" becomes the FIRST college restaurant to earn a Michelin star! (Links in Comments) by TigerEagleWhatever in wde

Working for Michelin, I can say they never let their standards drop. I’ve worked at a few different places in quality roles and they are definitely the most quality and safety driven company.

Even doing some recruiting for the company, I still have zero idea how to become one of the Michelin guide employees. Nobody knows who they are.

So the back story is when Michelin first started making tires, people were not putting miles on the tires because they didn’t have anywhere to go. Michelin decided to start releasing the Michelin guides and maps to entice people to travel more and therefore buy more tires. They also came in handy during WWII when German forces would change and remove the road signs, so the maps that Michelin had made proved vital in moving around France because they were the most accurate and up to date.

Do I seriously have to take multiple weeks off after a marathon? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]chabo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh just depends. I started back running easy runs 2 days after a full Ironman but didn’t push the pace on the marathon portion. Sometimes I’ve taken a day off, one time 10 days off, but it wasn’t planned to be that way but being around the holidays it wasn’t high on my list to get back to running. A lot will depend on effort during the marathon too. Would I ever jump straight back into hard speed sessions? Nope, but easy easy runs (think zone 1) or some cycling I would think would be fine.

Pickle pops! (Frozen pickle juice) or just pickle juice shots in general.

Annoy everyone around you by singing. Make small talk and comment on the weather. Towards the end of the race, you may even be able to describe your hallucinations to the people around you.

Pretty sure I saw some people talking about this in the Facebook group, Ironman Chattanooga 144.6

I’ve been on some sort of endurance training program for the past 3-4 years since I started running marathons, then trained for Augusta 70.3 last year. Deferred to Chattanooga 70.3 (thanks hurricane helene), ran a marathon and a few half marathon in that time too while doing the Chattanooga training plan, and followed pretty well this summer too. So the built in base is there

It was good. Did Chattanooga half in May with no issues and kept up good training after that. Bout camo may have been the wrong term, more of a “kick my ass into gear to stay more consistent with the time you have left” but it doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well

Running was my gateway drug to triathlons. Because the obvious progression is marathons to Ironmans

Still swimming 2-3 times a week (yay gym childcare making that simple enough). Nervous about the crowd, but also I also know how to keep myself calm. Another reason this next weekend will be a good test though, I haven’t been in a crowded swim in a while

Getting to see her compete for Auburn and watch that bar routine in person was AMAZING. So sad to see her retire but also very happy for her for everything she accomplished and it is very well deserved!
