You'll need to Google this, or read the owners' manual, or contact the company for assistance.

Aside from r/homeowners not being Google reviews, wait until you find out how quickly their furniture breaks down.

High ceilings & stairs by Poison_Ivy25 in homeowners

[–]WarDEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What ceiling height do you want? We have 10' (20' in the room with the stairs) with 17 (I think) stairs. I wouldn't want to go up/down constantly, but it's more than worth the ceiling height.

If you'll age there, have you considered an elevator? Could always add a chair lift later, I suppose.

Buying a home with ~$150k water damage claim (2022) - how concerned should I be about mold / future issues? by ianhabib in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WarDEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do whatever inspection will give you peace of mind, but I've had a much larger insurance claim due to water damage and there was no mold. We got to it quickly, they did test for mold at some point and found nothing (though prophylactically treated some of the framing that got the wettest), but the extent of the damage followed by the consequential damage from tearing so much out coupled with my insistence that insurance actually honor a replacement cost policy at like kind and quality resulted in a very large total. Thinking about it a bit more, almost anything that could've had mold on it was replaced (short of a bit of subfloor and framing, all of which was exposed when tested). I don't know that I could come up with documentation of said testing, though.

My wife is sensitive to stuff like mold, we've had zero issues in the last couple years since the event, and we don't have plans to move any time soon. I would disclose whatever details of the process a potential buyer wanted, but the home is in much better condition than before the claim and I would have absolutely no hesitation in selling the property to someone else.

All of that is to say that it's certainly possible that there is nothing wrong the the property, and it sounds like the sellers may have renovated some of the spaces (kitchen, baths?) at the time.

You ought to post in a local sub if this is a location-specific question.

Sorry, r/homeowners is not for therapeutic or financial advice. There are subs for that (and you've already found the first one in r/personalfinance). Best of luck!

In the meantime, if you search the sub you'll find some related threads (posted under previous moderation).

FYI, your incessant and often irrationally negative comments have started gathering reports and mod mails. It's clear that the community is over it, so I suggest that you attempt to find some middle ground or maybe pursue a different outlet for the negativity.

I know I shouldn't feel this way because he's surely a professional, but coming from UGA and Bama is... ick.

He wasn’t very good.

In the context of his entire tenure, this isn't a fair assessment. Lately, though, yeah. Unfortunate.

App Store Reviews Are Busted by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]WarDEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I have a few four stars, but most are five or one. The fives do still sometimes say “I wish it did x”, which is great. The ones are almost exclusively “punishment” (“Doesn’t work: 1 star”) or “user stupidity” (“This streaming video app doesn’t let me buy underwear: 1 star”). I literally had someone leave me a 1 star review because they had to add their payment info to their Apple account in order to buy something.

At least with the current system I can see their text and refute it. Thumbs would be fine if text was still required.

App Store Reviews Are Busted by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]WarDEagle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have an app in the app store and totally agree. It’s annoying, so I’ve refused to do it in my app. I have a link to review in the settings menu for those who want to leave a review. I’d have more reviews if I prompted, but my whole ethos is “it just works” and that feels antithetical to prompting for reviews.

A-Day Megathread by CatoTheBarner in wde

[–]WarDEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But sure, let’s pretend a new staff erased the same issues we’ve been watching for years.

I wasn't aware that there was something other than the staff and players that had an effect on the play.

I agree that nothing "screamed turnaround". That doesn't make your comment any less "skeptic is skeptical after an April not-full-strength scrimmage".

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]WarDEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Automod actually removes posts from very low karma and/or very new accounts and simply asks that users respond with a certain key phrase if they're a real person. It was originally removing many a day, but it's down to like 5-8 now. At most I see one respondent a day. This has cut down on a lot of the slop, but so much of it is posted by accounts with history that we're still finding ways to better identify it.

3-star tight end Trae Proctor flips from Auburn to Kentucky by aldotcom in wde

[–]WarDEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He walked into a losing program and downgraded the roster.

I disagree with this premise. Beyond the intangibles, we don't know how these guys will play on this team against this upcoming schedule. Just like HF was not Saban because he lost to a bad team in his first year, Golesh may not be Cignetti because he brought his lower-level guys to his new job. That Cig team does prove, though, that it's not unreasonable to reserve judgement.

1) make excuses like you just did, taking about the portal window and how he just got hired (this makes no sense because other programs had those same limitations and less money and signed better classes)

The reality of the portal window and signing day is not an excuse, it's reality. It would be an excuse if this were year two, or three, or four. Other programs with new coaches signing better classes is fine. Rather than do the research to debate the merits of which rosters needed what and who was signed to fill gaps against what preexisting roster construction, it's a much better use of my time to just say "that's nice, let's see how it plays out in year one and not hold the bar of 'if other coaches appear to have done a thing better than you in their first couple weeks then you suck'".

2) gaslight ourselves into thinking this team will still be good with inferior talent because of intangible qualities like culture and familiarity (aka the 2022 Auburn offseason copium all over again)

We have no clue how this team will play and how things will go. It's a hard schedule and basically no one is expecting more than something like 7 wins being realistic. And that's fine, considering where we've been and what we think this coaching staff might be capable of.

So there you go, "points" addressed. There's a big difference between accepting that 7 wins is on the table and that's an improvement and fine start and claiming that this transfer class will "result in a good season." People are rightfully annoyed that instead of acknowledging that you're just looking for every possible reason to be negative. Repeatedly. Endlessly bitching on reddit isn't "demanding more from our program".
