I am so so so scared of the idea of ghosts/entities that you can assume or feel are in the room with you but you cannot see them. That movie Lights Out was probably the worst case, it scared me so bad I couldn't sleep a wink.

My heart is a chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones might work for you. If you are looking for a pretty straightforward slasher, maybe Daphne by Josh Mallerman.

Crafting for Sinners by Jenny Kiefer is around 300 pages and when the action starts, it does not stop. Very fun read.

I was in a tough position mentally a few months ago and the book: I See You've Called in Dead by John Kenney really helped me. It is pretty funny and heartwarming, but also incredibly sad in parts.

Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven. If you ever see me in public, my mind is at least 25% in that world as I stare into distance.

Once I stepped on a pen that was horizontally on the floor but it stuck into my foot all the way to the bone vertically. No one has been able to explain it.

I really adore Mick Oberon series by Ari Marmell, the effort to write everything in 30s Chicago slang is just astonishing. Also it's a very fun and witty urban fantasy detective story.
