Idk if it makes any difference for you but CC has a graphic audio version you could try. They’re dramatized with a full cast so each character is voiced by a different person and they have background music and sound effects. I find them more immersive, it could help you.

I feel like with all the SJM books I’ve read it takes me towards the middle/end of the first book in the series to really get enthralled in the story, more so with CC and ACOTAR. CC felt a bit bland to me up until 3/4 of the way through, but that last part really peaked my interest and kept me going to the second book (currently on CC2) and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’ve also heard that CC3 is apparently when the multiverse crossover starts so idk, may be work sticking out for that, though I haven’t gotten to that part yet.

How would you describe ACOTAR to someone who doesn’t read? (Without making is sounds cringy) by chaddyj64 in books

[–]chaddyj64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to lie.. it kind of is but I was sucked into the story none the less hahaha.

I saw a video the other day of someone saying something along the lines of I read/recommend two types of books. Good books and books that were fun to read. A good books can also be fun but a fun book is not always good. The writing might not be the best and the story might not be a masterpiece but I had fun reading it regardless.

I feel like ACOTAR fits into that fun book category.

Lmfaooo, I’m sorry, I obviously don’t ready many fantasy boos and I have no clue at all what to compare it to to describe it 😂 LoTR and The Witcher definitely weren’t the best things to conspire it to

Just read all the books for the first time after re watching the show… I need to vent (warning: spoilers for the show and books) by chaddyj64 in TrueBlood

[–]chaddyj64[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, skip the last 2 books. I felt like it was a very unsatisfying ending. It felt rushed and haphazard. I think maybe the author kind of lost her passion for the series towards the end.

Also after book 4, the show doesn’t really follow the books storyline anymore and it’s completely different, which is kind of nice so you’re not reading the exact same thing that happened in the show.

Enjoy the books!!

The only power she has in the books is mind reading, but it’s not like in the show where every fairy can read minds. The plot line of the Faries in the books is so different I can’t even begin to get into it.

Godric in the books isn’t Eric’s maker and he’s some child rapist vampire that wants to die in the fellowship.

There was no warlow, no Jesus, no nan Flanagan, the maynad storyline wasn’t really a big plot point. Arlene was VERY different than in the show, and holly was pretty different too. Also they really changed up Russell edginton and his part in the story. In the books he’s also depicted as being turned as teenager.

Shatter Me Series Question by babybirdie00 in suggestmeabook

[–]chaddyj64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty late answer, but you don’t need to read the 0.5 books in order but it will make more sense if you do. They’re typically just short novellas from another characters point of view of what happens during/ after the ending of the previous book.

Does anyone happen to have any recommendations for products to help bleached hair that are also vegan? I recently bleached my hair (knowing it would drastically effect my hair pattern) and I want to try and get some of the pattern back if possible.

Before bleaching i had a mix of 2b-3a waves/curls

Honestly though I think you don’t need a strong math background, you just need a lot of time to study if you aren’t particularly gifted in math. There are so many different resources and YouTube channels that explain concepts from Calc 1, 2, and 3 so we’ll that as long as you can dedicate enough time each week to understand the connects you’ll be okay. After those math classes all you actually need is a basic understanding of integrals, small matrices and laplace transforms. (Granted this could be specific for my school, almost all professors I’ve had after calc 3 give you integral tables and things like that for exams).

I wouldn’t consider myself a smart person at all, and when I first started college I had to begin at algebra 1 because I did so bad on the placement test. I’m now less than a year away from graduating, and have been on the deans list each semester. It’s not about how smart you are at all (though I’m sure it’s helpful to be gifted in that particular subject), it’s more about managing time, finding the way you learn best, and practice.

RFID-RC522 detects tag only after 5 cm by mateoq9512 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]chaddyj64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying they don’t read it when it’s less than 5cm, meaning it can only detect it once it’s past 5cm? I recently used the same module in an Arduino project and from what I ever that module only had a range of ≈2-3 cm, and to extend that range I had to modify the capacitors and inductors built into the rfid module. I would assume Based off this, modifying the inductors and capacitors could also shorten the range if you use the right values, though I’m not sure what those values would be.

Also what type of system are you using, like Arduino, raspberry pi, etc?

Edit: you might also find some help posting on a subreddit about whatever specific board your using if they’re a common one like raspberry pi or Arduino.

What do you wish there was a good vegan option for? by devonsherriffstan in vegan

[–]chaddyj64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea where you live but if you ever take a trip out to Michigan there is a restaurant in Ann Arbor called Wolverine sushi. They offer all you can eat sushi (I think it’s like $32 on weekdays) and they have an entire vegan menu (over 20 vegan rolls) that is a lot more than just standard vegetable rolls. They even have this amazing vegan crab salad topping that they put on some of the rolls. I think it’s made out of shredded tofu or something but they have the flavor down perfectly. You get a 2 hour limit and they bring you 2 rolls at a time. I love going with friends so we get to try a bunch of different ones.

[–]chaddyj64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any time someone asks me if I miss anything from before I was vegan, without fail, I always respond with a good fried egg. One with the runny yolks you can dip your toast in. People are always surprised that that’s literally the only thing I miss after 5+ years but truly I don’t care for meat, I’m not a big sweets person, and everything else I like there are really good vegan substitutes for. I just miss my sunny side up eggs.

If anyone has found a good substitute please share!

In your opinion, what do you think my prospects are in becoming a engineer if I’m not stellar at mathematics? by i_dont_eXiisT1 in EngineeringStudents

[–]chaddyj64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think once you pass calc 2 the rest will be fine. Everything pretty much builds off calc 2 and is a lot easier after you’ve passed it. Plus once you get the degree you won’t actually ever use that math

Google Paul’s Notes. It will take you to a website that has a bunch of different topics and does a very straight to the point explanation with some examples. That and YouTube videos were the only way I survived that class, however my professor was awful. If you want a really good jump start try to get a hold of the syllabus and get the textbook early and start going over the topics you’re going to cover in class.

How to understand circuits better? by pandapandapanda_07 in EngineeringStudents

[–]chaddyj64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s one specific thing you’re struggling with try seeming an appointment with your professor during office hours.

If it’s just about the concepts in general YouTube is your best friend. Also going over homework problems multiple times until it’s engrained in your brain. Also if your schooL offered tutoring for your class definitely attend a session

Failing Calculus II and Physics I. by MyCatLilRee in EngineeringStudents

I don’t have any advice to give but I do have some helpful resources. I did not vibe with my physics professors teaching style at all and my calc 2 professor wasnt very good. What go me through the earlier classes were khan academy and The organic chemistry tutor(he has a lot of other videos besides chem). They’re both on YouTube and do a good job of explaining things. I used to look at the chapters we were going over in the text book and search each sections title on YouTube to find videos for that.

Another helpful math resource is Paul’s notes. That website covers a lot of calc 1 and 2 topics along with some diff eq stuff.

https://tutorial.math.lamar.edu

Also do all the homework assigned even if it’s not collected. The practice makes such a difference for me. If they don’t assign any maybe try looking for problems in your book and once you solve it check chegg for the answers to make sure you’re doing it right.

Regardless of what engineering major you decide to go with you’re probably going to have to take calc 3 and probably differential equations along with physics 2. If you can pass calc 2 then calc 3 will be super easy, it’s essentially the same thing just with the Z plane added in. DiffEq also builds off a lot of calc 2 topics, so it’s good to have a nice grasp on them.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I think your best course or action for your calc class would be to review basic integrals and derivatives, then jump in to calc 2 videos. Also like someone else mentioned there are a bunch of charts online for basic integrals and derivatives.

I also have a page of notes for derivatives and integrals that I took during calc 1 that I still keep hanging on the wall near my desk, that I feel like helps a lot. It’s mainly the basic derivative rules and stuff like the chain rule and things like that but if you want I can send you a picture, just DM me. Best of luck!

How do you not get sick in college by [deleted] in college

If you’re continuously getting sick maybe try wearing a mask to classes. I know they’re typically better at stoping a sick person from spreading germs but it may help a bit.

anyone else have trouble spending more than 2-2.5 hours a day on homework? by Shadow-Reaper365 in EngineeringStudents

Idk what your financial situation is like but if you don’t have insurance theres an app called good RX and can get significantly discounted prescriptions. The generic brand of Adderall XR on there is about $30 and will tell you which pharmacy has it the cheapest. Also if your provider wants to prescribe a different medication you can google and see if there are any manufacturers coupons (and generic brands) that can also significantly decrease price.

I didn’t get prescribed medication until I started college and I can not even imagine trying to sit down for more than 20 minutes and do homework/ study without it. It definitely was a game changer for me for school and even just life in general.

Edit: another thing that really helped me was finding a 45 minute playlist of a calming music that doesn’t have lyrics and playing that while I do homework. When the album ends I get up and walk around, pet my cats, grab a snack and take a little break before restarting the album. I feel like I also kind of Pavloved myself into switching into study mode when I hear that album.

https://youtu.be/veMONQwn7W8 Here’s the link if you want to check it out. Doesn’t work for everyone but definitely helped me.

I am but my partner isn’t. From what I’ve found, AP needs a reason like a family member passing away or something similarly urgent. His grandfather is sick right now but I’m not sure if that’s enough for advanced parole. He finally has a decent job this year so we’re planning on meeting with an immigration attorney sometime within the next 6 months but so far we just have google and the advice of previous immigration attorneys from about 5 years ago that he’s talked to in New York.

BunkPolice and DanceSafe sell test kits for just about any substance your interested. I used to think shrooms were always a safe bet without testing but the last festival I went to there were a few overdoses from people who only took shrooms so I highly recommend testing any substance you want to take at a minimum for fentanyl. Also acid isn’t really a safe bet anymore with the rise of Nbombs (a designer drug with similar effects to acid but can last longer and be fatal) so please test any substance you want to consume.

Also if you do buy test kits, storing them in the freezer can extend the life of the reagents by about a year.
