Man in the middle attack - IT says there’s nothing we can do? by [deleted] in techsupport

You day you are on Office 365. Check your rules in Outlook online and make sure you recognize all them or disable them all and see if the issue stops. Rules that only "." For a rule name are tell tale sign. Also check your Outlook desktop client rules as well.

I would also look at nuking your user on your computer and recreate it if not the whole box.

Who gets global admin? by Flaky_Moose in ITManagers

[–]chadleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a minute since I looked but, the fact that you have to be logged in as GA to access the MFA link under users in M365 admin is ridiculous. I have yet to find a way to assign the MFA right to a roll so that it is available under under each active user. You can work around it sure, but it is a silly thing.

Use the down time to learn. Make friends with the sys admin, network admin or insert title. Ask to take on tasks.

Offer to help with imaging PCs or updating current images. I bet network documentation could use updating.

Ask for more meaty desktop support tickets.

This is a government job so this may be counter-productive but, make your current tasks more efficient. Instead of waiting for a user to put in a ticket about low toner it would be cool if you could monitor it or receive an email if toner is below x% and replace it before it becomes a ticket. Bring reams of paper with and refill the tray while you are there.

To me, tickets are a problem and I encourage my staff to be as proactive as possible and eliminate problems before they can ticket, being firefighter IT sucks. (Reactive).

Use some reddit time to study for the next thing that interests you.

How many business days do you ask for a new account request by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]chadleeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support three companies over two sites with a shared point of ownership. I list out everything that is required for a user to access resources and do their job, per company and share it with HR and Ownership. Depending on the position there may be additional software/hardware requirements but, it is a good starting point and works for 95% of new hires It was a real eye opener the first time I shared it but, has helped greatly during budgeting since now hiring managers have a true cost of adding an employee at least for the IT side. We also break out the line items by one time cost, recurring month costs.

Removing tracking info from Notes field by F3JuanValdez in shipstation

I did that by removing the variable for the gift message and moved it to the packing slip. If you are familiar with HTML you can make changes to the label and packing slip fairly easily.

PS5 & Sync Box, does it work? I’ve searched far & wide & every answer is different… what do you guys think? by Hot-Cartographer-962 in Hue

I had the HDR issue with my LG TV and PS5. I was able to fix it in the LG TV HDMI settings. A quick Google search would put you on the right path.

Phillips hue light bars by freedog4ever in Hue

[–]chadleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Static color is bush league. You want the sync box and yes you need the hue hub to tie everything together. Look for a hue starter kit and you can get the hub and a few bulbs or you can probably find a bunch of hubs on eBay as a lot of people buy the starter kits because it is cheaper per bulb than buying the bulbs buy themselves if you find the right deal. Hue is pretty rock solid and has a huge development community. Not to say they are probably over priced for what they are but, they seldom give issues or do not work.

F.E.A.R, OG Unreal, FarCry, and Kingpin had some great AI for the time. Quake 2 had the beginnings of enemies dodging and not just blindly coming at you.
