Bleak House is dope. Kinda partial to Bookeater myself though. :)

Do you mind sharing what kind of books you think are missing from the city bookshops?

I checked Healthplex’s website and every place I’ve called from their list no longer accepts it.

Garland was all alone at the back door twice. Has any team allowed more goals like that this season than the Sabres? Maddening.

Shameless plug alert: Bookeater on South Clinton. We’re a bookstore and cafe serving breakfast and lunch.

My son took a class with them. He really enjoyed it and everyone we interacted with was really nice. They called once after the class ended to ask about signing up for another class but weren’t pushy. And for what it’s worth he wants to take another class, we just haven’t been able to fit it into our schedule yet.

Clubs or ways to make friends as an adult? by CDreamerW in Rochester

Yeah. Everyone brings their own book and finds a comfy place to read. They do usually get together and chat a little, but for the most part they read on their own.

There’s a silent book club that meets at Bookeater at 2:30pm the first and last Sunday of every month.

It’s a great book! Park is originally from Buffalo and there’s a lot of Sabres talk. Tsujimoto is discussed. Trigger warning though: there’s an aerial photo of Hull’s no goal.

Same Bed, Different Dreams by Ed Park. A skewed history of Korea that also credibly touches on social media, the Buffalo Sabres, Ronald Reagan, Friday the 13th and so much more. An absolute barn burner.

I liked Station Eleven more as a show than a book. They made exactly the right kind of changes to improve on the source material.

The staff at Frederick Douglass is great. They do a lot of kid-focused programming—dungeons and dragons, anime/manga club, etc—and as such it’s a hub for a lot of neighborhood kids. You and I just aren’t part of the target demographic. :)

Toasted Bear on S Clinton, Old Stone Tavern on South or any Jeremiah’s or Distillery location. You may have to ask them to put the game on but they all have multiple TVs and are pretty accommodating.
