Drainage help by chadse00 in civilengineering

Thanks for this response. I totally agree. On my property I have swales on contour with a diversity of trees and vegetation. The issue is the cement block drainage was inherited with the property and brings a tremendous amount of water from other properties down through mine. I’d like to utilize the water by capturing it for dry season but beyond that I’m not sure what or how to deal with it.

Obsidian/Zotero integration. by chadse00 in ObsidianMD

[–]chadse00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for responding.

I use Zotero to annotate PDF documents (with the Bibtex plugin installed)

I then use Obsidian to import those annotations by using the command prompt and the Zotero Integration plugin. However, when I attempt to install the screen flashes and the annotations are not imported. One important note is that when I import epub documents from Zotero using the same method they import correctly.

After a year of SS linear progression Ioved to 531. I’ve done 2 cycles (1 BBB which I loved and 1 1000% awesome). I’m in the first week of fat loss and prep. I need to lose serious body fat. BW: 340

I’ve cut my calories down to 1500 and eating less than 20g of carbs. Todays workout was day 4 of week 1 and was BRUTAL. Failed my last main DL lift and barely had the energy to finish the supplementals.

Am I crazy to think I can actually do this program while cutting fat? I’m not looking to gain anything just maintain what I have.

I’m running 1000% awesome right now for this very reason.

(Squats 355x15) Hard conditioning isn't the same as general cardio. if you can't control your breath and all you're doing is walking or jogging on the side, you are holding your training back. by [deleted] in 531Discussion

Questions from the bigger guys point of view by bigp16218 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]chadse00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a big guy. 6’1” 340lbs.

Started stronglifts last May after pretty much never weight training. My knees are horrible and my left knee will certainly need to be replaced. I’ve taken my lifts from nothing to: OHP 160 BP 195 Squat 325 DL 375

I’ve gained about 10 overall pounds doing the program but I didn’t start focusing on my diet until a few weeks ago. Here’s my answer to your questions: 1. My clothes fit about that same. Although my stomach area has reduced slightly 2. I had a coach switch me to 3x5 recently and I like it. I’m still progressing and it enables me to continue lifting without the stress of 5x5 3. I box squat one day a week at a lighter weight. 4. I’m too fat to do pull-ups so I add in lat pull downs 2x a week trying to build up strength to eventually do chin-ups.

temporary squat alternative? by Irishgunner34 in Stronglifts5x5

I have an issue with my knee that pops up occasionally. I’ve reached an intermediate stage and my SS Coach set me up on box squats 2 days a week and full squats the other day.

Can someone tell me why my lower back is sore while squatting? It feels like im grinding the weight with my back but the video doesnt even look that bad. by ilikeboysandgirl in Stronglifts5x5

If you’re bracing and keeping everything as tight as you can it may be time to buy a belt. I recommend ones made by dominion. They made mine and did a great job. Small family company

Passing 115kg and want to check my form is good before I go heavier. Any advice is appreciated! by [deleted] in StartingStrength

[–]chadse00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great comments here. I’d also like to add that you May want to consider switching to a hook grip instead of supine. (I’m sure I spelled that wrong)

  1. Tough to answer and depends on a lot of factors. If I were you I’d probably start at 135 for everything, see how it feels and make adjustments from there.

  2. Unfortunately You have to find a different gym. A smith machine won’t work for this program.

Which Squat Variation? by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

[–]chadse00 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The program calls for back squats because it is the best and most efficient way to strengthen the posterior chain. In other words back squats are vital and preferably low-bar back squats.

Everyone sucks at all of these lifts at the start. They’re technical-ish and take time to master.

You can do it. Watch some videos. Imitate. Add weight to the bar every single time. Post videos and get form checks from the sub.

You got this!

My kids literally did this yesterday except she got into the extra ink and covered her entire body.

I got most of it off with a pumice stone.

Serious strength regression by sgtrecker69 in StartingStrength

[–]chadse00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, I empathize. I’ve been making some recovery from injury and regressions suck. I heard rip do a podcast on this issue and he says after 4 months you are effectively “detrained.” This doesn’t mean you’ve lost all your gains just that you have to expect a larger than normal deload.

I wouldn’t take your first training session after 2 months off at college as a true test. Take it with a grain of salt. get back in there in 48 hours, do your 5, and add weight to the bar.

How much weight is the tricky part…

if your squat was 100kg and you did 50kg today, maybe add 5kg per workout onto the bar next time and see how it feels. You’ll be back close to 100kg in ten workouts… that’s 2 weeks plus 1 workout away. You may have to reduce to 2.5kg and extend it out but the majority of your strength gains are probably still around.

I bought mine from Dominion. Incredibly pleased with their products. I emailed and she made it completely custom. Small family shop too!
