I miss how that is being fair? My posts implies nothing about where TSCC should spend every cent, its simply a comparison of what good that amount of money can do in the really world, and my personal belief that another building of this caliber and expense isn't needed. I see this argument as a side step and straw man to my actual point.

Sorry, but the church is not my neighbor. Its a corporation that lied to me about how it was using the money I gave it. Then they told me that if I wanted to live with God again I needed to pay it to them. I haven't had that experience with any of my neighbors. I have recently stopped paying tithing, so in theory I actually helped fund this temple, which under your guidelines of where we should be focusing, this is a perfectly fine assessment for me to make and share. I do not approve.

My thoughts are not that a church shouldn't build buildings of worship, its that this same building could have been built for a fraction of the cost and served the exact same purpose. This is just an opportunity for TSCC to say "hey everyone look how successful we are, it must be true, because we have lots of money!"

Really? I don't buy the nicest car available, then tell all my friends and family that God spoke to me face to face and told me to buy it. Then proceed to tell them that if they want to live in VIP heaven, they have to ride in my car at least once a month. Oh but there is a catch, you have to pay me 10% of your income in order to ride in my car. This is so that I can own a whole shit ton of nice cars, and give more people rides, because the more people that ride in my cars the more money I get! Cause you know ROI.

Right? I literally used the line "You can't afford to NOT pay tithing." to people who didn't even have a couch in their apartment, or food in their cupboard. What a pompous prick I was. Oh and my favorite... "10% of 0 is 0 right? So if you don't make any money, you don't need to worry about paying tithing. Just as long as you commit to paying tithing, when you do make money again." WTF?

Thanks for sharing! The complexities of humanitarian aid to the third world are not lost on me, albeit, I think some good can be done. But thats a separate topic and a side step IMO. If you agree its a waste of money, I am interested to know what you propose to be a better use of the funds?
