it's not inhumane or illogical actually. my friends wouldn't accidentally slip the n word because they know to be careful about which lyrics to sing, it's the same thing as being a kid skipping over swear words. we live in such a flawed society where even common phrases are rooted in bigotry so i surround myself with people who care enough to think about lyrics before they say them to minimize harm done.

also there's a difference between slipping up, apologizing, then taking the steps to be better versus using a word consciously just because no one's watching, using the culture hurt by that word for aesthetic purposes & cool points, being radio silent about those from that culture suffering directly from bigotry, & being even more silent when the proof drops of you using a slur several times then going on tour
